VMware / Citrix Operations Engineer

Virtualisation / Citrix / Vmware / Microsoft / Windows / MCSE / VCP/ ITIL / Administer / Configure /

The successful candidate will possess a broad range of technical skills, but predominantly will have a working understanding of Citrix, Virtualisation (VMWare) Microsoft, and Backup technologies. They will be used to working in a busy and dynamic environment, and have excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills. They should have considerable commercial experience in a similar technical role, ideally in the Financial or Banking sectors.
Responsibilities:

* Work to pre-defined processes and procedures.
* Perform daily system health-checks.
* Monitoring of systems and escalating to 3rd line support, where appropriate.
* Liaise with 3rd party (external) maintenance suppliers.
* Participate in an out-of-hours 24/7 on-call rota.

They will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring the day-to-day aspects of the IT Infrastructure; they must possess the following skills.

* Citrix XenApp6.5 admin and configuration experience.
* Citrix XenDesktop 5 admin and configuration experience.
* Citrix Provisioning Services admin and configuration experience including vDisk maintenance.
* Citrix Netscaler 10 VPX Access Gateway Admin experience.
* Vmware vSphere 5.0 Admin experience.
* Microsoft 2008 R2 OS experience
* App-v 4.6 Sequencing and admin experience.
* Prior experience of working in large/complex corporate multi-site environments.
* Exposure to Microsoft Technologies (Microsoft 2008 R2)
* Have a good understanding of TCP/IP.




In addition to the technical skills detailed above, the candidate should also:

* Hold a current foundation Microsoft, VMware or Cisco networking qualification (i.e. MCSE/VCP)
* Ability to communicate well with both IT and business staff and departments.
* Identify work required and organise, facilitate and perform the work with limited guidance from line management.
* Good analytical skills and methodical approach.
* Highly organised.
* Strong Service attitude.
* Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
* The ability to support a customer in the understanding if the ITIL structure and process.
* Extensive understanding of Service Level Agreements.
* Knowledge and use of helpdesk management software.

The following skills are considered desirable:

* Exposure to Database and Web technologies.
* Experience of working with Blade-server technology (ideally the Cisco UCS platform).
* Exposure to EMC storage platforms (ideally CX4 or later).


Education/Qualifications: Essential Desirable
Have gained a foundation accreditation in Microsoft, VMWare or Cisco. Be educated to degree level.
