Our Client: Celebrating 96 years, as market leaders within their field - The organisation is seeking an experienced and hands-on Head of Digital to take ownership of, develop and implement a full digital marketing strategy. This is a very exciting, pivotal, influential and high profile role within the organisation and therefore a professional who is both very commercially astute and highly experienced is essential. You will be able to think strategically however able to / prepared to be fully hands-on, particularly in the initial stages of implementing rapid team head count growth; which you will manage.

Principal Function - To determine and drive the strategy for all Digital services for the organisation. To be accountable for the management and spend of the Digital budget in order to drive the best possible return on investment. To oversee, and be accountable for the development and delivery of all digital services and activities in a timely and cost-conscious manner. To work closely with the Senior Management Team both within Marketing and the wider organisation to influence and guide the use of Digital tools. To be the organisations internal expert on all Digital matters. To lead, inspire and grow the Digital team.

Key Responsibilities: 1. Based on objectives, develop and implement a digital marketing strategy, whereby growth can be achieved through improvements to existing online activity or developing new strategies.
2. Take ownership of the technological systems used by the department, ensuring they meet the needs of the job and staff have the appropriate user training.
3. Communicate the strategy and performance of digital marketing activities at board level in an effective, clear manner, offering explanations for performance and advice on the way forward.
4. Deliver innovation and new ways of working within the organisation, ensure that the use of digital communications to meet its strategic aims is optimised and cost-effective.
5. Build and maintain close working relationships and lines of communication with departments across the business.
6. Create and maintain a strong working relationship with external agencies and suppliers.
7. Promote the importance of digital marketing to other departments, encouraging them to make the best use of it in their work.
8. Develop a deep understanding of the organisations digital supporters and online community, and employ this to both enhance online user experience, drive additional income and develop new digital products and income streams.
9. Keep up to date with the latest digital opportunities and consumer interaction trends (especially in terms of digital fundraising) and take appropriate action to seize opportunities.
10. Set and manage budgets for the digital team, ensuring that spend is placed appropriately in order to generate the best return on investment for the organisation.
11. Manage and help build financial forecasts and targets of spend and performance by products.
12. Keep accurate records and prepare reports on activity and budgetary spending as requested.
13. Explore and develop ecommerce opportunities.
14. Develop, manage and motivate a digital team.
15. Ensure efficient project management and clear prioritisation of tasks across the digital team in line with the organisation's objectives and priorities as determined by the Senior Management team.
16. To have overall responsibility for running the day-to-day operations of the digital team
17. Ensure expertise, experience and best practice is shared across the digital team

Qualifications, Applied Knowledge and Skills
. In depth digital expertise, across all areas of digital, is essential - SEO, PPC, affiliates, analytics, email marketing, web design, ecommerce, social media etc…
. Previous experience in a mid- to senior-level digital management role and ability to influence at a senior level and build strong working relationships is paramount.
. Proven track record of inspirational team leadership and man management of a Digital Team. As relayed above the successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting a building the majority of their team. Proven ability of this experience is also needed.
. Proven excellent communication and negotiating skills.
. Experience of working for a charity or not for profit organisation is desirable, but not essential. Commercial background is of preference.
. IDM Digital Marketing qualification is preferred. The personality and culture fit for this role is of particular importance.
