Applications Designer - design / architecture

My prestigious client in Birmingham is looking for a permanent Applications Designer with vast experience in Design / Architecture and requirement capture / gathering.

Some of the daily responsibilities would include:

· Good Design / Architecture experience within IT projects.
· Architecture development of both COTS and in house solutions
· Production of concise and accurate systems documentation and willingness to document standards and best practices
· Understanding of integration and service based toolsets
· Ability to drive through change in a complex and challenging environment
· Ability to adapt and react quickly to changing priorities
· Experience of good leadership and communication skills
· Experience in working with offshore technical teams and being able to provide stewardship to offshore teams.
· A seasoned IT professional (minimum five to seven years' experience in at least two IT disciplines) who can provide evidence of designing, guiding and monitoring application solutions and is able to see the "big picture" impact of different solution options.
· Familiar with Microsoft SQL Reporting Services.
· Technology-aware.
· A wide exposure to IT and its wider roles and responsibilities in a similar sized organization.
· Strong understanding of application development methodologies.
· Experience of setting and achieving targets and producing work of high quality to agreed deadlines.
· Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, communication (written and oral) and negotiation.
· Strong drive for results and resilience.
· Excellent analytical and technical skills.
· Understanding of the enterprises political climate and how to navigate the political waters.
· Embrace, adapt and drive change.
· Excellent facilitation and consultancy skills.
· Good planning and organisational skills.
· Self motivated and the ability to work independently when required.
· Good team player.
· Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations.
· Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to business problems.
· Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
· Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes.
· Basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting.
