Project Manager - Upstream Oil & Gas - Sunbury
My client, a high profile oil & gas company, is looking for an experienced Project Manager with Upstream Oil & Gas experience from previous projects to join their team in Sunbury.
Key Responsibilities:
* Work closely with Steering Group, Advisory Group (and partner) project team to deliver overall success .including supporting organisation and processes as well as the core IT solution.
* Work with selected vendors to develop and implement project plans.
* Leverage and apply CVP (stage gate methodology) as appropriate in service of delivering project targets and develop Gate Deliverables at appropriate stage gates.
* Assure project is effectively resourced.
* Manage project team activities to deliver on agreed targets and budget.
* Communicate and coordinate day-to-day project activities within the project team and assure that priorities are developed and known.
* Ensure an overall communications plan is in place and actively involves all key stakeholders
* Run formal and informal project governance mechanisms.
* Identify constructive interventions where necessary to keep projects on track and facilitate or make those interventions appropriately and effectively.
* Assure that project milestones / targets are clearly communicated understood within and outside the project such that the appropriate parties can marshal resources and activities to align with project delivery.
* Record and report project progress as agreed with line management and stakeholders.
* Forecast outcomes and translate them into likely financial forecasts.Assure that the right parties are linked into the project at appropriate points in the project life cycle to affect smooth and successful project handovers.
Experience:
Essential
· Relevant PM accreditation (e.g. PMP, PRINCE 2 Practioner)
· A sound project management background gained within an international organisation managing projects through the entire project lifecycle. (Budgets min $1m, min team size 5 people).
· Core competence in Planning, Cost Estimating, Risk Management, Performance Management, Quality & Delivery Assurance.
· Experience of managing complex third party software application development projects
· Good technical awareness of web based applications and infrastructure.
· Experience working with technical and non-technical teams across a broad range of IT disciplines and geographies.
· Implementation of best practice standards in project delivery management and governance.
· Assurance and track record of collective project delivery and business value improvement.
· Ability to assess integrity and appropriateness of potential IT solutions
· Excellent record of Stakeholder Management
· A record of project delivery
· Strong business awareness
Desirable
· A solid track record of delivering software application development projects within an Subsurface or Operations Upstream environment - in particular any systems relating to seismic, wells or production data.
· Significant experience in a similar role in an oil/gas company
· International experience (ideally in the Middle East)
· And/or Experience delivering projects involving Government Departments
Any knowledge of Data Management in an Upstream environment
