Application Support Analyst - 3rd Line

My client, a leading consultancy are actively seeking an Application Support Analyst to join their existing team. The successful candidate will provide high quality operational and technical application systems support to the organisations customers and internal business functions.
The key responsibilities of the role are as follows:
· To provide 3rd line application support on complex internally and externally developed applications
· To conduct application monitoring, performance tuning and testing in order to maintain system stability and high availability
· To interact with internal teams and external third party vendors to trouble shoot and resolve complex problems
· To manage problems from identification through to deployment
· To apply database and operating system upgrades and updates
· To deploy application releases and configuration changes - developing implementation, backup and roll-back plans
· To ensure that incident and problem documentations are up-to-date
· To ensure all technical and non-technical documentation is up-to-date
The essential skills & experience required are as follows:
· Strong customer service and support focus with a desire to deliver a high quality service
· Experience in an application support role
· Extensive problem solving and debugging skills
· Ability to independently apply production upgrades and support the products and technologies
· Experience in providing services to agreed SLA’s and OLA’s
· Able to thoroughly research issues before escalating to the development teams
· Excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
· Flexible in working outside of core business hours at short-notice
The specific technical skills & experience required are as follows:
· Experience in administering Linux and Windows 2003 server environments
· Experience with network and firewall security
· Experience with supporting multi-tier infrastructures
· Experience of writing SQL queries - ESSENTIAL
· Experience in supporting and administering Oracle 10g RDBMS - ESSENTIAL
· Experience with supporting Java applications and an understanding of web technology
· Experience with supporting and administering application and web servers (Jboss,
WebSphere, Apache, IIS)
· Experience with maintaining and supporting virtualised environments (Hyper-V, VMWare)
