My Manchester based client is looking for a principle technical resource working in a 2nd/3rd level support team responsible for managing an infrastructure of approximately 500 windows servers, 1500 workstations, Cisco network technologies and Microsoft applications across 7 sites in the UK. Principal responsibilities ·Provide 2nd and 3rd Level Support for a Windows and Cisco based Infrastructure. ·Diagnose faults and get to root cause of incidents recommending and implementing fixes to prevent reoccurrence of issues. ·Take part in and manage operational handovers from the project team into production. ·Produce technical and process documentation for supporting the infrastructure ·Monitor Capacity and Performance of the Infrastructure. ·Communicate clearly with the IT team, and with both internal and external end-users ·Be an escalation point for the IS Service Desk. ·Keeping an accurate inventory of the GMC's infrastructure. ·Monitor and respond to alerts from the system management toolset. Technical skills:· Strong technical knowledge based on significant hands-on IT experience.· Strong understanding of network architecture· Strong knowledge of server and network configuration and maintenance· A good working knowledge of current technologies, including:* Windows Server 2003/2008 and XP SP3. * Windows 7 Build and Deployment SMS or SCCMo Active Director Exchange 2010 server and Outlook 2010 * Cisco Networks (including Load Balancers, ACE and Firewalls)* VPN technologyo HP Hardware (Server and Workstations) including EVA 6500 series SAN's or similar.* Powershell Scripting.* VMWare - Vsphere version 5o IIS 7 Web technologies * Solarwinds Oriono Microsoft Operations Managero Sophos Anti-VirusOther requirements:· The role will be based in Manchester but will involve occasional trips to London including overnight stays.· Occasional paid evening and weekend work to support implementations and resolve incidents.· Good understanding of ITIL including Change, Incident and Problem Management.
