The role incumbent acts within a key production support position as DBA, to support critical banking systems as set out below.
The primary goal of IT Infrastructure (';ITI’) is to keep the IT Systems maintained and operating at all times. ITI supports and maintains existing IT systems, networks & environments as well as sustaining generic applications and services. It also works to implement new technologies to continuously improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of their service.
Overall, ITI's goal is to keep systems running and money moving regardless of normal or crisis situations. ITI adds real value through the generation and implementation of ideas and concepts that contribute to the bottom line performance for the branches and organisation as a whole.
Essential:
* Excellent Oracle 11g experience in banking production environments
* Excellent Oracle WebLogic experience
* Advanced SQL server experience
* Shell scripting
* Oracle database RMAN and Oracle Grid Control
* Knowledge of OFSS Flexcube product
* Ability to lead infrastructural database solution design and implementation
* Excellent communication and customer focus skills
* Advance problem solving skills
* Experience of Infrastructure project management
* Documentation skills
* Certified Oracle database administrator/architect
* ITIL certified
* Relevant training in key DBMS Software
* Higher education
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
* Provide effective day to day technical support for designated back-office application(s) and their platform and database environments, in accordance with prevailing SLAs
* Ensure on-going understanding of business needs re the back-office systems
* Understand and represent IT and database policy, strategy and back-office system architecture
* Possesses expert knowledge of Oracle database architectural solutions, has ability to translate business needs into solution architecture requirements
* Present leading database consultant (DBA) to deliver architectural solutions for technical projects
* Provide production support on a shift basis to agreed hours; Provide overnight and weekend support on a rota basis; Provide 24 x 7 DBA cover
* Monitor capacity, integrity and performance of production systems
* Install new servers, understanding the performance and resilience characteristics of the key hardware/software components and be able to follow standard procedures
* Carry out database performance and tuning and have an understanding of application level
* Be able to reproduce and simplify problems for resolution by the database vendor, and work with the vendor to develop workarounds for problems
* Understand the implications of undertaking "unsafe” operations, understand the impact of those actions, and minimise their risk
* Ensure that all new builds are in accordance to standards
* Provide monthly and adhoc reporting as required
* Create and maintain infrastructural documentation
