Technical Architect

Our client, a high profile media organisation, are looking for a Technical Architect who is from a strong development lead and software architecture or data architecture background, with at least 3 years spent working within iterative SDLC environments.

· Able to lead by example, and be hands-on at all points in the SDLC where required, along with producing any appropriate documentation (specifications, UML diagrams etc.)
· Able to show evidence of having been influential in the successful delivery of large, multi-component SOA systems.
· Experience of working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams with a focus on delivery using an Agile and iterative development approach in a rapidly changing environment.
· Knowledge of data modelling, (conceptual, logical and physical), mapping and analysis skills.
· Excellent knowledge of the development of effective physical data models including advanced SQL.
· Knowledge of Xml, Xml Schema, SOAP and REST, experience of creating complex service interfaces over logical and physical data models.
· Experience with popular application programming frameworks - for example - Spring, Hibernate, EJB 3.0 and Apache Commons.
· Experience of using test tools and frameworks such as Junit, TestNG, FitNesse, SoapUI and HttpUnit as part of the overall test strategy.
· Experience of working with large volumes of data and managing associated performance and throughput challenges.

Desirable Knowledge and Experience

· Track record of developing data models using UML or IDEF1X and tools such as UModel or Rational Rose.
· Knowledge of formal analysis techniques (data modelling, object modelling, process decomposition, etc).
· Experience of working within a broadcast media environment, particularly production workflow systems, working with video and related metadata.
· Evidence of working with multi-component, high availability systems (e.g. Financial, telecommunications).
· Knowledge of document management systems and change management systems such as Jira, Subversion and confluence.
· Experience with: Linux, Tomcat, WebSphere, WebSeal, Process Server, DB2, MySql, BODS, BOXI.
· Experience implementing end to end test automation systems.
· Experience of asynchronous workflow orchestration engines (e.g. BEPL).

This is a 5 week contract initially.
