
The University of Oxford are seeking to recruit a Head of Financial Systems to be responsible for leading the newly formed Financials Support centre, comprising approximately 20 staff, providing a range of support services for Finance Systems (including, but not limited to, Oracle R12). A prime reporting line will be in place to the Group Financial Controller, who is the sponsor for Finance systems, for the functional and strategic finance responsibilities, and a dotted line to IT Services Department.
The Head of Financial Systems will be responsible for establishing a competency centre to integrate the traditional application support services with business-led services aimed at servicing end users requirements , managing application changes/investments, and enabling continuous business process improvement to realise benefits from the implementation of Oracle R12.
The appointed candidate will have a deep and broad understanding of Finance business processes, combined with a deep understanding of complex financial systems such as Oracle Financials and preferably Oracle R12. You should have demonstrable experience of managing a support services team, combined with experience of ITIL service management principles, as well as sufficient experience and knowledge of working in an IT delivery environment and interfacing with both IT and the business. You should also be able to demonstrate experience of analysing business process improvements and helping to measure the business benefits realisation, having the authority to recommend decisions to the business and making decisions on behalf of the business where appropriate. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to operate at various organisational levels are essential to this role.
