Analyst Developer - London - 41 days holiday/year!

My Client, a leading organisation within the Education Sector are looking for an Analyst Developer for the following role.

About the role:

The main part of this role will be to work as the Technical Administrator for the applications listed above, working on the installation, configuration, maintenance, testing and operation of these services, including 3rd line support and troubleshooting and performance monitoring.

The role holder will work closely with colleagues from across IT, particularly:

- the front-line user support teams

- the back-end Systems Administrators and Database Administrators:
where the role holder will work on the installation and configuration of the applications, applying upgrades and security patches as required and working to optimise the functionality and performance of the applications, supporting both mobile and traditional platforms.

Key Requirements:

1. The role holder will need to draw upon their knowledge of media file types and the applications listed above OR have experience of technical 3rd line support and troubleshooting, have an interest in this area and be keen and willing to learn.

2. The role holder must have experience of doing technical 3rd line support: excellent troubleshooting and problem management skills and experience of analysing, researching and solving complex IT problems.

3. It would be an advantage for the role holder to have experience in LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) development and knowledge of the SQL language or have an interest in this area and be keen and willing to learn.

4. The role holder must have experience of business requirements gathering and analysis, and their translation into technical specification documents.

5. The role holder must have an understanding of the importance of change and quality control, creating technical documentation and testing and release management when working with major, high profile IT services critical to the student/staff experience such as our Virtual Learning Environment (Moodle) and our lecture recording and publishing system (Echo360) (Desirable but not Essential Experience)

6. It would be an advantage for the role holder to have experience of using version control and bug tracking software such as Subversion and Trac and performance testing and simulation tools such as JMeter.

7. The role holder will be required to work under their own initiative and within a team, working closely and performing knowledge transfer with colleagues within the immediate team and throughout ISD to develop productive working relationships. The role holder will be required to network and liaise with colleagues in similar roles from different institutions and with software vendors as appropriate.

8. It would be an advantage for the role holder to have experience of service planning, implementation and management of multi-tier, high profile IT services, including the installation and configuration of applications such as those listed above.

9. It would be an advantage for the role holder to have an eye for usability and clean UI deployment and a good understanding of accessibility issues.
