Uniface Developer - Public Sector - Nottingham - £400 - £500 p/day
My client, a global consultancy focussing on Public Services requires a Uniface Developer to assist with the generation of its new generation of operational applications. Reporting to the Development Team Leader the candidate will be working on a wide range of tasks including contributing to design, development, unit testing and peer reviewing.
The successful candidate will be working as part of a development team following the Scrum Agile process and the successful candidates will join scrum teams consisting of existing on-shore developers and off-shore developers in India. The candidate will be required to work under their own supervision whilst providing regular updates of progress against planned activities and any issues that are encountered.
Key Responsibilities
To design and develop software components to support the clients new generation of applications for the their market, primarily using Uniface 9 technologies.
To ensure that the software in written to high technical and quality standards and in compliance with agreed standards.
To support developed software through both the internal and external quality assurance processes.
To support software deployed to live customer sites to a high standard and in accordance with agreed service levels.
To work closely with the offshore development and test teams and to act as a mentor to more junior staff.
To fully comply with the agreed Quality Management System processes for the software development lifecycle (covering both agile and waterfall methodologies as appropriate for specific projects).
Essential
Uniface version 8 and above (preferably version 9) for at least 3 years
Detailed knowledge and understanding of XML
Basic HTML knowledge
SQL (Oracle 10g and above)
A good understanding of the software development lifecycle.
Desirable
Experience in developing web browser based applications
Experience of using HTML
Experience of using JavaScript and/or Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
Experience of working within the UK Public Sector and knowledge of police systems
