Solution Architect - £75,000-£85,000 per annum
My client, a leading software consultancy is actively seeking a Solutions Architect to work with their clients to bring forward technology based solutions to business challenges. They are looking for someone who comes from a technical architecture background within an Agile application development environment using open source web technologies such as Java, Ruby and HTML5.
The responsibilities of the role will be as follows:
· Design of architecture, definition of specifications and potentially some hands-on development
· Working closely with the customer to identify key drivers
· Acting as a trusted advisor to clients, providing pragmatic solutions to real world problems
· Designing, developing and delivering enterprise solution architectures
· Taking the lead on highly complex solution builds, often as a key member in a small team, managing development streams and taking ownership of the overall solution
· Involvement in pre-sales activities - delivering presentations, demonstrating the potential of technology and simplification of technical documents
· Managing client expectations throughout the project lifecycle from initiation through to delivery.
The key skills & experience required is as follows:
· A consulting background and appreciation of working in a commercial environment
· Enterprise wide architecture and system design experience gained in either Microsoft or Java based development environment
The technical skills & experience required is as follows:
· Experience designing and implementing software systems, i.e. is hands-on
· Experience with Agile methodologies ( TDD, SCRUM, Kanban etc )
· Building and scaling high-traffic websites and/or high volume transaction processing and analysis platforms
· Caching, security and database (document, object and relational) techniques and technical implementation methods
· Experience with automated configuration management, deployment and testing solutions
· Use and implementation of modern front end web programming techniques, such as HTML5, CSS3, AJAX, REST, JSON
· Experience with a web programming framework such as Django, Ruby on Rails, Scala / Play etc
· Experience with both Relational (MySQL, Postgress etc ) and noSql databases ( MongoDb )
· Experience embedding and effective implementation of API and Web services architectures
· Enthusiastic about and experienced with open source solutions and community
· Enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and working in a multi-disciplinary team
The role will involve extensive travel away from home during the working week.
