My client, a public purpose internet company require an Oracle DBA to provide critical database support and enhancements to the technical team and business. Proactively understand and manage both the database environments across multiple technologies to provide best-of-breed database support to the business. Deliver enhancements and projects in line with a technical roadmap across multiple database technologies and platforms.
Key Skills
5 years+ experience working in database roles
A thorough understanding of Oracle RDBMS platform to version 11gR2
A good understanding of MySQL and SQL Server RDBMS
An understanding of Oracle Data Integrator and Oracle Business Intelligence
Experience in RAC and SAN configuration
Experience of DataGuard
Excellent Database design skills
Strong skills in SQL/PLSQL and performance tuning of queries and procedures
Good Knowledge of RedHat Linux and Windows operating systems
proven experience with:
Managing a combined budget of £100K+
Working within service level agreements
Managing software and hardware projects
Key Objectives
Provision of high quality database support to both the business and IT team
Management of RDBMS software, systems infrastructure and people to provide high quality service
Be comfortable working with a breadth of DB technologies from desktop level to enterprise architecture
Work with multiple RDBMS systems, technologies and platforms to create best of breed solutions
Work to Service Level Agreements to manage uptime and performance of both systems and services
Understand and proactively plan software and infrastructure to meet both technical and business needs
Manage project activity and balance this with support and administration tasks
Responsibilities
Liaison with Software teams and dotted line management of software DBA
Working relationships within IT dept and wider business
Quality of database solutions and performance
Key Result Areas
Management of support workload to SLAs
High performance service based on internal feedback
On time and on-budget project delivery
Close, productive working relationships with other IT teams
