Field and Media Services Engineer - Hull

Field and Media Services Engineer - Hull, East Yorkshire.

The University of Hull is looking to appoint a Field and Media Services Engineer, based at the Hull Campus. Reporting directly to the Field and Media Services Manager, the role will be part of a team of Field and Media Engineers, who will be tasked with providing day to day, audio-visual and media support to the University campuses and its satellite sites.

While general calls for support are routed and prioritised through the Service Desk team, calls for support from teaching spaces are given direct access through a 'hot line' to the Field & Media Services workshop.

The role holder will be expected to provide day to day technical support as part of the team, to liaise with first, second and third line support teams and be focussed on obtaining the best outcome for the customer.

The main activities of the Field and Media Services team will include:

The installation, configuring, upgrading and troubleshooting of personal computer components and their associated peripheral equipment
Installation and maintenance of audio-visual, video-conferencing, video capture and digital signage equipment
Instructing teaching staff on the use of equipment in teaching spaces
Fault diagnosis and repairs down to motherboard or sub-assembly level
Setting up staff and student IT equipment to access the University network
Digital media creation, storage, editing and transfer

Because of the technical nature of the role, the following skills are deemed essential:

Previous experience of using and supporting Microsoft Windows 7 operating system or higher
Previous experience of using and supporting Microsoft Office 2007 or higher
An understanding of networking principles
Demonstrable experience of repair and maintenance of both PC's and Apple Macintosh's
Fault diagnosis, maintenance, repair and support of audio-visual equipment and control systems

Expert media experience is required for this role.

In return Hull University is offering a base salary of £19,972 - £23,121 depending on experience. This also comes with an excellent benefits package and a fantastic working environment. Furthermore a generous relocation package is offered if necessary.
