Community Engagement Manager - Feltham

My client, a high profile oil & gas company, is looking for a Community Engagement Manager to join their team in Feltham.

Job Purpose
The Community Engagement Manager will take responsibility for the establishment, maintenance and measurement of online communities aligned with the company's learning strategy. In addition the Community Engagement Manager will take responsibility for editorial content relating to specific areas of the Learning & Talent intranet site, and for learning related to virtual team-working.
Reporting Relationship
This position will report to the Director, Online & Informal Learning within the Learning & Talent team.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Community Engagement Manager will work in close co-operation with the Learning & Talent team to develop and manage learning communities which support specific communities of practice aligned with strategic learning imperatives. At times, the Community engagement manager will also work with other teams, for example the Sales & Marketing Academy to provide consultancy and support as it relates to online communities. The establishment of communities will involve taking responsibility for the success of these communities: liaising with third parties regarding technical aspects of the set-up, communicating with users and ensuring that the community addresses their needs, providing editorial content and updates to the sites in order to maintain engagement levels, and providing metrics and management information demonstrating success.

1. Conducting scoping and audience analyses regarding the suitability and requirement for online communities. Providing creative direction to the design and functionality of those communities, whilst ensuring that those communities are aligned with business requirements.

2. Liaising with third parties - such as development companies - to ensure that communities are correctly designed and done so in accordance with data privacy and security requirements.

3. Ensuring that community functionality is delivered on time and to budget and that project plans and project review procedures are in place.

4. Managing the content and subscriber base, providing regular content updates and editorial content, together with communications relating to the community.

5. Moderating community content, or taking responsibility for moderation agreements.

6. Promoting communities and taking responsibility for the success of those communities and degree of community engagement.

7. Providing measurement and management reporting relating to the success of those communities.

8. Providing support to the Learning & Talent team in the set-up and delivery of synchronous online learning activities, such as webinars or online masterclasses.

9. Ensuring that the approach remains innovative and world-class, benchmarking our approaches against external best-practice..

10. Supporting the Learning and Talent teams in the provision of tools and techniques for virtual team-working.

11. Co-operating with the Online & Informal team so as to ensure that our approach remains industry-leading.

Requirements
· Compelling examples of community management experience in previous roles; demonstrating a clear link between personal contribution and the success of the community.
· Good interpersonal and client-relationship skills
· A proven track record of managing the design, development and maintenance of online communities to time and budget
· A good sense of design, as evidenced by examples of previous work
· Familiarity with a range of technologies used in the development and delivery of synchronous and asynchronous online collaboration, for example Adobe Connect, WebEx, portal technologies, Sharepoint, Google apps and hangouts.
· Strong online facilitation experience.
· Evidence of editorial ability, and pro-active curation of content
· Ability to manage third parties.
· A desire for continuous self-improvement and need to work on projects which will drive best-practice within the industry as a whole.

Education
· Evidence of successful self-directed learning.

Required Skills and Competencies
· An appreciation of what works and what doesn’t in establishing successful online communities.
· Good editorial ability.
· Broad understanding of a variety of collaborative technologies
· Ability to manage multiple projects/communities.
· Strong project and vendor-management skills
· Good interpersonal and networking skills
· Good awareness of the external market and best-practice case studies.
· A drive to improve and succeed.
