A Senior Linux System Administrator is now required to join the existing ambitious System Administration team of a rapidly expanding business providing mobile network solutions within the transportation sector in global markets.
This role requires an individual with extensive Linux administration and troubleshooting experience within a red-hat based environment as well as a good level of networking. You will undertake analysis and diagnosis of problems providing recommendations and implementing corrective solutions.
As a senior member of staff you will be expected to take a lead role in the design and implementation of systems requiring a high level of understanding across a broad range of infrastructure and technologies. You will also be expected to demonstrate high technical standards, project leadership and organisational skills.
The candidate should possess strong knowledge of the Linux operating system, server and storage infrastructure products, virtualisation technologies using Citrix XenServer and have some understanding of switched and routed networks preferably using Cisco technologies.
Responsibilities will include design, testing and validation of the design, implementation, technical documentation using Visio and related documentation tools and on-going operational support and maintenance.
The required skills are:
- Strong capabilities within Linux administration and troubleshooting within a red-hat based environment as well as a good level of networking.
- Diagnose faults and offer solutions across a broad range of IT and communication systems with an emphasis on Linux environments, Virtualization and Cisco networking equipment.
- Design, implement and support highly available complex Linux based solutions in diverse system environments.
- IP network configuration and Documenting.
- Performance tuning, usage trending and analysis for pre-emptive maintenance and growth of systems.
- Using appropriate tools provide 24x7 system monitoring of all systems and services.
- Backup solutions and disaster recovery.
- Build test specifications and undertake test cycles.
- Visio design/diagramming skills.
- Troubleshoot and offer 3rd line support to other business divisions and customers.
Essential technical skills are:
