Senior Linux Administrator , RedHat, SLES, Puppet, Apache, Tomcat, Jboss, Java
The successful candidate will have solid and broad IT foundations (networking, TCP protocols, encryption, security), a strong Linux background with wide exposure to open source software, a drive to learn and excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Responsibilities:
* monitoring and administration of the existing Linux systems
* keep the systems up to date with patches and upgrades
* 3rd line incident response and problem resolution
* provide full life-cycle application support
enhancement and automation of administration tasks
* design and deployment of new enhancement and automation of administration tasks
* design and deployment of new systems/services
* administration of the disaster recovery infrastructure * take part in an out-of-hours 24/7 on-call rota
Technical skills:
Linux systems (preferably RedHat and SLES) with considerable experience
* commercial experience in supporting 24/7 *nix systems preferably in a Banking environment
* strong bash shell scripting skills and basic perl
* master the command line and common commands (sed,grep,awk...)
* familiarity with centralized configuration systems like Puppet
* good Apache webserver knowledge (SSL, vhosts, rewrite rules, mod_jk, mod_proxy,…)
* commercial experience with Tomcat and Jboss application servers
good understanding of TCP/IP and proficiency with common network tools like netstat, tcpdump, iptables, nmap, telnet, etc…
exposure to virtualisation
