Domain Portfolio Manager - Canary Wharf
My client, a high profile oil & gas company, is looking for a Domain Portfolio Manager to join their team in Canary Wharf.
Role synopsis:
Reporting to the CIO of Trading Functions, the HoDPM is responsible for supporting the planning, performance management, delivery assurance and communications agenda within Trading Functions. To this end, the DPM performs six functions:
* Portfolio Management - support the DPM within the Trading Functions LT to actively manage operational and delivery risks & issues.
* Performance management - supports the provision of an accurate, timely view of management information to make informed delivery & demand management decisions including people (individual and team), projects, BAU and applications performance.
* Delivery assurance - maintains an up-to-date view of Trading Functions projects within the Trading Functions portfolio and as part of the broader portfolio.
* Planning - supports the annual, quarterly and monthly planning process to create a robust & well-formed always-up-to-date set of plans, forecasts and actuals for Finances and Headcount.
* Communications - supports the CIO of Trading Functions in preparing for Town Halls, offsites, marketing, communication key messages, supporting the development of the new intranet and putting packs together for Governance Boards.
* Productivity and Small Application Delivery - supports the CIO of Trading Functions in project managing the application development of productivity and collaboration tools as well as mobile applications.
Key accountabilities:
Portfolio Management:
With the TF LT support the creation of a shared agenda for the domain in order to:
* Shape the domain’s strategic thinking into a clearly articulated set of priorities.
* Ensure the domain team is set up to succeed.
* Provide support to all team members, ensuring the direction, end goal & benefits are clear to all.
* Take the initiative in responding early & decisively to external challenges.
* Actively manage & support risks & issues to operational effectiveness and project delivery.
Performance Management:
Supports effective operation of the TF portfolio and supports the embedding of a performance management regime with control & transparency, identifying interventions as required, across:
* Financial management against a project budget of approx. $20m and an operational budget of approx. $30m.
* staffing model for 200+ people.
* Portfolio management.
* Compliance management.
* A clear understanding of accountabilities & performance contracts.
Delivery assurance:
Provides assurance support for:
* the portfolio of delivery projects, through active management of risks, issues, conflicts & constraints.
* Organisational changes which impact delivery, such as transfer of a project team into the domain.
* Effective execution of compliance processes, including SOX, audit, compliance, HSSE, safety.
Planning:
* supports the annual planning process representing TF.
* provide assurance that the plans are coherent & achievable.
* support the proactive management of domain level risks & issues relating to the plan.
Relationship Manager:
* Provides support to the DPM as main point of engagement and escalation for issue resolution for the portfolio planning, PMO & Finance teams.
* Works with these teams to ensure effective processes and ways of working are in place and issues are resolved.
Desirable criteria & qualifications
* Proven ability in the management of IT delivery and support services in a high availability global environment (i.e. follow-the-sun support).
* Previous experience in IT delivery role.
* Demonstrated experience in process improvement delivery and methodology.
* Experience in defining and monitoring service delivery metrics and SLA’s.
* Energy trading experience.
