Business Manager - IT - London

My client a leading Major broadcaster is looking for a Business Manager to join their IT & Technology delivery team.

The Business Manager supports management at all levels across a range of business and departmental activities. The core activities of are:

· Departmental Governance & Assurance
· Business Management
· Manpower Planning
· Capital Asset Management
· Business Reporting
· Project Reporting
· Health & Safety
· Internal Communications
· Management Support
· Training & Development

PURPOSE OF ROLE

The purpose of the role is to provide support at a senior level to the Director of IT & Technology Delivery. The role also provides focus for all of the business management functions across the department..

The role is crucial to ensuring IT & Technology Delivery achieves its strategic objectives by supporting performance management, governance/risk management and decision making.

The post-holder has a high level of interaction with divisional stakeholders within the client as IT & Technology Delivery supports divisional objectives across the client and manages technology delivery projects across the client. The role has interaction with senior management in the Technology Controller community.


SCOPE OF ROLE - KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Business Management
ØLeads the annual IT & Technology Delivery objective setting process. Ensures objectives area aligned to divisional and group objectives
ØOversees the overall management of the IT & Technology Delivery risk register ensuring that appropriate risks are included and weighted
ØEnsures a regular reporting cycle for IT & Technology Delivery is maintained agreeing with stakeholders the periodicity, form and content of reporting

Financial Management
ØWorks with the Director of IT & Technology Delivery on the annual budget planning process and overview liaising with Finance as appropriate
ØManages central IT & Technology Delivery cost centre, including monitoring spend against budget, advising of potential overspends and implementing remedial action to address any financial problems
ØEnsures that the IT & Technology Delivery funding model is maintained appropriately and funding changes are accurately reflected with the model


Stakeholder Management & Communication
ØRepresents IT & Technology Delivery to the finance community
ØSupports the IT & Technology Leadership team in the provision of business reporting and quality assurance across their departments

Departmental Governance
ØResponsible for establishing and maintaining effective management systems and processes including co-ordination of the department’s reward policy, monitoring of appraisals and handing of Freedom of Information requests
ØMaintains a business calendar including the management of IT & Technology Delivery input into other key forums
ØResponsible on behalf of the Director for department meeting agendas, governance and schedules
ØActs as main contact point for accommodation and environmental needs.

Training & Development
ØAccountable for the formulation of the IT & Technology Delivery Training & Development strategy, annual plans and supporting processes ensuring alignment with business objectives and priorities
ØResponsible for the provision of quality assurance and knowledge management function into IT & Technology Delivery to ensure accuracy, clarity and relevance, ensuring supporting documentation and databases are updated as necessary

Internal Communication
ØResponsible for the creation and delivery of the IT & Technology Delivery project related communications.

Leadership
Ø Leads the Business Management department
Ø Responsible for setting direction and managing performance of the overall department
Ø Responsible for building a positive working environment in which staff feel engaged in the wider operation
Ø Responsible for ensuring the working environment is safe and ensuring that all line managers and staff in IT&T Delivery incorporate safety management into business as usual activities and maintain safe working practices
Ø Leads negotiations with the recognised unions for the Business Management department

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential
· Proven experience of providing business and management support at senior level within a professional services environment
· Significant experience of leading and developing groups of business support staff
· Experience of having established credible working relationships with a wide range of colleagues with the ability to command trust and confidence of senior managers
· Proven ability to formulate strategy and to design, implement and manage plans to meet those strategic objectives. Evidence of having consistently met strategic objectives
· Thorough understanding of investment principles and practices within a corporate finance framework
· Numerate with experience of managing significant budgets, able to undertake detailed analysis and interpretation of data, identifying trends and appropriate actions. Ability to determine and change financial priorities in line with changing business circumstances
· Demonstrable strong project management skills, ability to initiate, plan, manage, deliver and review projects
· Proven excellent organisation and planning skills and the ability to manage a busy workload, and a number of conflicting priorities and tight deadlines whilst remaining calm under pressure
· Proven strong communication (verbal and written) influencing and interpersonal skills

Desirable

·Experience of working in consulting or can demonstrate the ability to think analytically and seek insights from data
· Experience of working in an environment with a strong customer service and service delivery focus environment with the ability to ';make things happen’ in an uncertain and increasingly complex world
