My client is an lading global investment banking player. They seek a talented technologist to supplement their network engineering team.
Working within the Network Engineering team, primarily responsible for defining the global Unified Communications strategy as it relates to real time communications (voice and video). This includes but is not limited to; developing designs and overarching architectural frameworks, new product/service evaluations, development of specific design standards and templates, definition and maintenance of technology roadmaps and buy/hold/sell lists, operational service handovers as well as provision of third line support technical expertise. The overall objective is of creating, maintaining and growing a stable, scalable UC environment that drives business performance, productivity and growth. The candidate should ideally be knowledgeable and passionate about the benefits of UC, and able to communicate this to the business and deliver on the strategy where feasible, in collaboration with other teams.
Key objectives critical to success:
- Definition of the Unified Communications strategy in collaboration with other Engineering groups
- Development and publication of Engineering Standards for UC real time communications technologies (in person as well as delegated)
- Full business need lifecycle management: requirements definition, solution development, acceptance criteria definition, transition into service
- Maintenance of technology roadmaps
- Self managing and detailed planning of high profile projects and complex designs
- Providing third line support and technical expertise
- Product evaluation, testing and selection
- Operations oversight in areas of capacity management, root cause analysis
- Managing key vendor relationships
- Chairing of, and key participation in, global technology UC working groups
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required
- Requires very strong knowledge and experience of the Cisco Unified Communications portfolio, including CUCM, CUC, VCS-C/E, MeetingPlace, IOS gatekeeper/gateway, UCCX
- In-depth understanding of voice/video protocols and standards, both current and emerging
- Experience of highly integrated UC environments (CTI, API, bespoke applications)
- Experience of Financial Services environments, including trader voice technologies and integration (voice dealing switches, ideally BT ITS, hoot ';n holler, private wires)
- Ability to produce high quality detailed design and deployment documentation
- CCIE Voice level or equivalent
- Ability to work unsupervised
