My client are looking to directly recruit a Desktop Support Engineer to work from their modern offices based in Darwen.
The successful candidate will be required to work within the IT Support team and provide the day-to-support of the IT Infrastructure. The role does include small elements of the development of systems, to provide enhancement, support and modification.
As well as being responsible for providing first line support internally, you will be required from time-to-time to support other subsidiary companies of the clients and assigning the relevant internal resource to deal within any issues.
You shall be responsible for the delivery of operational IT Support objectives, inclusive of:
· Providing 1st and 2nd line support for the IT Infrastructure, to include; Servers, Desktop, Network and Phone technology
· Assist with the implementation of new systems, encompassing Server, Desktop and Network and Phone technology
· Proactively learning new skills associated with new technology being implemented in the business
· Monitoring and managing the enforcement of the security and IT use policies with the business, which includes Internet Security, Domain Authentication Control and Remote Access Control
· Assisting the IT Support Manager with any activities and objectives which fall within your capabilities, as and when requested
· Provide occasional evening shift work, should this be required and agreed by prior arrangement
Skills & Experience
· Minimum of 12 months experience in a similar IT support environment
· Experience and/or knowledge of:
* General TCP/IP/Windows Networking
* Servers (Windows, Linux)
* Virtual Servers (VM Ware)
* Backup and Restore (ARCserve)
* Microsoft Exchange
* Blackberry Enterprise Server
* Active Directory
* Terminal Server
* Desktop Systems (Windows, Office)
* Cisco VOIP Phone and Landlines
· Excellent communication/customer service skills to engage with internal customers
· The aptitude to work independently and as a team member
· Consideration for the data that you shall be supporting
· Meticulousness for accuracy
· Analytical skills and have the ability to research any issues, end-to-end
In return, the client are offering a base salary of £17,000 - £20,000 (dep on exp) + excellent benefits including:
· 25 Days Annual Leave, plus bank holidays
