Oracle Database Administrator DBA (Banking)

An experienced Database Administrator working in a highly successful Finance company within a Database Administration Team. The candidate needs to ensure stability of services in a dynamic environment. The job involves the support of development, test, live and standby and disaster recovery databases.

Key Responsibilities:

* Support and Monitor usage of multiple 24x7 Live Oracle (9i),10g and 11g Databases.
* Installation, configuration and upgrading of Oracle Server software.
* Linux Admin skills
* Shell scripting experience.
* Design & Implement of new Oracle architectures.
* Establish/maintain best practices, processes and procedures to underpin the operations of the business.
* Support of high volume/transactional databases (preferably with financial background).
* Is able to be support the HA Oracle cluster environment.
* Database Backup & recovery technologies
* In-depth trouble shooting skills
* Detailed experience of Dataguard, RMAN
* Experience of Enterprise Manager Tools.
* Experience of SQL, PL/SQL scripting.
* Sqlserver 2000/2005 experience.
* Support of high volume/transactional databases (preferably with financial background).
* Oracle Security.
* DB Performance monitoring and tuning .
* Out of hours support (rota basis).
* Liaise with various teams to ensure smooth delivery of new products and projects.
* Administration of the EMC/Netapp SAN
* Experience of programming languages e.g C, Pro*C,Java - to support development team.
* Experience with SAP Systems(DBA related).

Measures of Success:

* Efficient running of the database at all times.
* No unnecessary down-time.
* 100% security is maintained at all times.
* SLA agreements maintained.
* Delivery of agreed measurable availability and performance indicators.
* Projects delivered on-time and within budget.

Skills/Knowledge:

* Extensive commercial experience of Oracle Database Administration working in a varied environment.
* Exposure to Oracle 10G/11G/IAS desirable.
* Candidate must show good communication skills, being prepared to share knowledge, develop and work smoothly within a team.
* Experience of SQLServer, High Availability Systems, and Storage administration desirable.
* Oracle Certification preferred (OCP)
* Strong program performance tuning Skills.
* Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.
* Proactive and organized.
* Working knowledge of Oracle Network Protocols.
