Principal Role
Support, develop and maintain applications and systems used by the company commensurate with skill levels and experience as directed by your Team Leader and/or Manager. Provide a professional, efficient, timely and cost effective service to users and the company for which he has responsibility. Provide technical assistance whenever possible for the key systems and operating software. Will be transferred to the Support Desk in near future.
Main Tasks
* Provide effective and efficient services to users and clients, ensuring work is carried out to an acceptable standard (commensurate with normal market practices) to agreed deadlines. Ensure maximum availability of computer systems and other related services within his/her remit.
* Assist in, and actively undertake where appropriate the analysis, development, programming and testing of any software enhancements or rectification of faults of any system within his/her remit.
* Assist in the production of program specifications relating to both new developments and software enhancements.
* Comply with the controls that are in place to mitigate risk, such as using the support desk systems and adhering to the change management processes and procedures.
* Assist in the production of user and technical documentation relating to new software releases.
* Work on the Development help desk when required and deal with incoming user calls and requests.
* Ensure management are aware of any issues in a timely manner.
* Keep abreast of new developments and working practices both business and technical.
* Offer guidance and training to junior team members or new joiners
Role Specific Tasks
* Liaise with; provide assistance and support to the users, Southern Help Desk, Northern IT, Programme Manager, Technical Support and other Development teams.
* Provide technical support with regard to all systems and processes in general, but especially Fiscal and Pulse.
* Liaise with users and key suppliers as required.
* Recommend any changes to or improvements in both working practices and service delivery. This will include software and hardware upgrades, procedural changes, staff training and changes.
Qualification:
* Not applicable, although a sound rounded education to "A” level or degree standard is preferable. Formal training in the skills required would be an advantage.
* No mandatory qualifications although an in depth knowledge of Windows 7, Microsoft office, and general PC applications is required.
* An in depth understanding or better of the following technologies is not essential but highly desirable: OOP, Microsoft .NETC#, MVC , Oracle, SQL, XML, XSL, VB, Web Services, ASP.NET, IIS, server applications and alike.
Systems/ Hardware/Software
Key systems:
* FISCAL is the primary source of information and we would expect the successful candidate to either have a sound knowledge of or be trained in some of its applications/modules, Databasic and the Universe operating system and environment.
* PULSE is the main system used by the front office and a working knowledge of its applications and processes would be advantageous. Similarly a basic understanding of the dealing functionality of OMS and Proquote would be helpful. If this knowledge is not available, we would expect the successful candidate to be trained and become quickly familiar with their basic functions.
* Pulse requires in depth knowledge of Redback, OOP, Microsoft .NETC#, MVC , Oracle, SQL, XML, XSL, VB, Web Services, ASP.NET , IIS , etc. and a working knowledge in these areas would be advantageous. Training will be given where necessary.
* Other systems where a good understanding of the functionality and processes involved include: CORIC (document warehouse system) and Web applications.
* Familiarity with standard Desktop applications
