Front Office Technical Support Analyst

My client seeks a senior techncial support analyst to keep systems running and money moving regardless of normal or crisis situations.

The job holder of this role will:
* Provide day to day technical support for the designated front-office application(s) and their database environments.
* Provide resource to project initiatives involving designated front-office application(s) systems.
* Initiate pro-active resolutions.
* Develop new methods for ease of support and system stability.
* Provide technical development and support for the designated front-office application(s) for a single or multiple geographies/locations.
* Support multiple technical domains.
* Provide stable designated front-office application(s) platforms performing to agreed SLA's.

Context of Job:

ITI's goal is to keep systems running and money moving regardless of normal or crisis situations. ITI adds real value through the generation and implementation of ideas and concepts that contribute to the bottom line performance for the branches and organisation as a whole.
This role exists to:

* Initiate internal development projects to improve support for the designated front-office application(s) participate in projects as appropriate.
* Provide Operational acceptance testing of production systems for the designated front-office application(s) and their database environments.
* Provide System, Capacity and Performance Monitoring & Operations for the relevant platforms and database environments.
* Maintain and test the Disaster Recover capability for the designated front-office application(s) and their environments.
* Liaise with Developers, Applications Support, End User Services, Infrastructure Projects and Security.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

* Specifying, configuring and implementing the designated front-office application(s) environments.
* Day-to-day support of the designated front-office application(s) production and development server environments in a structured manner, to agreed procedures.
* Defining standards for the designated front-office application(s), their platforms and database environments.
* Providing technical support to development & infrastructure projects.
* Providing support on a rota basis, as agreed.
* Maintaining full documentation of systems, fault resolutions, and incident investigations.
* Testing of new software releases, patches and upgrades.
* Liaising with other technical support teams, as required.
* Liaising with development groups to ensure standards are adhered to.
* Liaising with vendors to produce pricing models.
* Evaluating and documenting new products (hardware and software).
* Installing new servers, understanding the performance and resilience characteristics of the key hardware/software components and be able to follow standard procedures.
* Implementing suitable backup strategies depending on risk level.
* Carrying out high-level performance and tuning at server level and have an understanding of application level issues.
* Monitor capacity, integrity and performance of designated front-office application(s) systems; provide agreed cover.
* Modifying & maintaining existing scripts to handle changes in infrastructure. Create new scripts as required.
* Able to reproduce and simplify problems for resolution by relevant vendors, and work with the vendor to develop workarounds for problems.
* Understanding fully the implications of undertaking "unsafe” operations, the impact of those actions, and minimising their risk.
* Provide technical input and support to projects managed externally from the team (infrastructure or business driven) in accordance to the expectations of the project manager.

Key Performance Indicators:

* Development and maintenance of standards for the designated front-office application(s) and their platform and database environments.
* Technical support to meet prevailing SLA’s.
* Feedback from the business and colleagues within ITI and IS&D.
* Availability of designated front-office application(s) to agreed SLA’s.
* Achievement of objectives set.

Job Skills and Knowledge:

Essential:

* Extensive experience of the related technical platform(s), including system building, configuration and administration to an advanced level
* DBA experience of the relevant database system(s)
* Network analysis skills including all appropriate RI platform protocols in use
* Disk Management Software
* Awareness of multi-platform environments and integration skills
* An understanding of database logging and recovery and how to recover from the various failure scenarios, include master database corruption.
* Knowledge of developing and maintaining high-quality and reliable testing procedures
* An understanding of network, multi-user access and locking issues.
* Recognising critical operations and knowing when to use careful planning & preparation, rather than action.
* Very good performance & tuning experience and background particularly with regards to the designated front-office application(s) and their technical platform(s)
* Unix Thin client management knowledge
