Implementation Deployment Engineer (networks) VLAN / VPN
Job Specification:
The role of the Infrastructure deployment engineer is a varied one working with many internal and external stakeholders, they have end to end ownership to ensure that the delivery from initial requirements and design all the way through to testing and hand-off to regional Implementation teams is achieved in a timely, coordinated and controlled manner.
* Assisting technical Architect and Planner with elements of planning and related documentation.
* Interpreting of individual site scoping documents and translating the designs to ';on-the-ground’ deployments, then acting as Real Time tech representative in meetings with 3rd party site management vendors to make sure our requirements are met.
* Document all site requirements and disseminate information to stakeholders.
* Act as technical liaison and escalation path on the project for Vendors during their phase of the work, sorting out any inter-vendor issues onsite.
* Liaising and managing 3rd party vendors for all swap outs prior to handing over to Implementation.
* Liaise with vendors to get all relevant data to hand in order to fill in related documentation and ensure all documentation is available readily for relevant personnel to take ownership for delivery.
* Create deployment diagrams and doc sets (including testing scripts, cable matrices, etc) .
* Complete site profile documents and deficiency handover lists ready for handover to the various internal Implementation teams.
* Manage logistics for upgrade weekends such as access to vendors during upgrades, confirmation on the availability of the resources and hardware.
* Performing the install/upgrade activities managing onsite Vendor and internal teams on weekends. Testing the server/applications, links etc as
per testing scripts, troubleshooting issues and completing required post checks.
Required Technical skills:
Looking for hands-on engineering experience with a solid technical background, specifically strong networking skills, and some project management abilities
· About 3-4 years’ solid technical experience including datacenter experience
· Strong networking knowledge including experience in large network migrations/deployments
· Knowledge of Cisco Routers and switches, VPNs and VLANs
· Good server-based knowledge, including how to deploy into server centres
* Experience of troubleshooting VLAN or physical connectivity for servers and network equipment
* A working understanding of Windows Networking (TCP/IP)
* Have knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, L2 switching, L3 routing concepts, VPNs and VLANs
* Awareness of generic Network security & WAN protocols such as MPLS / Multicast / BGP
* A Good understanding of Cisco Catalyst switch hardware and Cisco IOS advanced configuration and Operation
* HP Hardware and utilities experience
* Experience of the Real Time infrastructure and Operational environments.
* Excellent verbal communication and written documentation.
* Strong attention to detail
* Good team player
