DBA/Windows Systems Administrator - Permanent - Sheffield (South Yorkshire)

Main purpose of the role:
To be accountable for all aspects of database related technology and activity. This includes: the installation, enhancement and upgrade of database products; the design and implementation of the database elements of solutions; working with project teams to provide solutions; and advising on the appropriate and efficient use of database technologies.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Advise on how to design and build efficient solutions using the clients database products.
2. Liaise with hosting providers in order to provision storage and servers for the non-production environments.
3. Manage (install, patch, upgrade and performance tune) the database products.
4. Ensure that change is tested comprehensively prior to deployment to the production environment and demonstrate that non-functional requirements have been met.
5. Be responsible for undertaking all DBA activities as required.
6. Produce high level and system specific technical design documents.
7. Estimate, and be able to justify, the effort and duration to undertake database changes for project managers.
8. Install new or upgraded "off the shelf" packages and products and assist with their commissioning.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Technical Skills:

Required:
- SQL Server 2008
- T-SQL, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Cluster Services
- Full Project lifecycle and Software Development life cycle experience
- Windows Systems Administrator Experience, MCSE or equivalent

Desirable:
- ZAP (Business Intelligence and Analytics)
- Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 and 2010
- Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012
- Microsoft SharePoint (MOSS 2007, SharePoint 2010)
- Database design and data modelling
- Software Engineer by background

Soft Skills:
- Ability to summarise and get to grips with complex problems.
- Good personal time management.
- Work well with others, including across interim and third party staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Desire to improve, refactor and simplify technology.
- Able to accept change.

Qualifications: Ideally degree educated or equivalent, demonstrable experience.

Internal: IT management team, IT Operations team, IT users, Project Managers, Systems designers
External: Third party integration partners and IT suppliers
