SAN Storage Engineer / EMC VMAX , Clariion (VMAX, Clariion) and NetApp / NetBackup and TSM
This is a full time position providing support for Storage and Backup capabilities across a data centre. The supported infrastructure consists of multi vendor SAN, Network attached storage and various backup capabilities across a variety of platforms and operating systems. Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate customer focus, technical and troubleshooting skills, experience working in a global support organisation, and excellent written / spoken communication skills.
responsibilities:
Incident managment, focusing on our customers, ensuring issues are managed and resolved in a timely and consistent manner
* Provide support for storage and backup capabilities including ticket management for incidents and support requests
* Provision storage and backup capabilities in line with project and work request requirements
* Report on and manage storage and backup capacity
* Amend and create new documentation inline with existing standards
* Implement and manage new storage hardware deployments
* Manage the decommissioning of legacy hardware
* Manage and troubleshoot storage issues which include following escalation paths, both internally and externally and liaison
with storage vendors
* Working with the storage design engineers to bring new capabilities into the support team
* Proactively maintain and manage the storage environment
* Adhere to agreed standards, policies, procedures and best practices to deliver consistency and standardisation
* Help to identify and drive efficiencies, process / procedural enhancements, and automation as part of continuous service improvement
Requirements:
minimum 5+ years of overall IT experience, with a good understanding / prior experience working with and supporting large scale (Enterprise) Storage and Backup environments.
* 2+ years of experience in a NAS (NetApp), SAN (Hitachi & EMC), Avamar, NetBackup and TSM backup environment, although this is flexible where appropriate.
* Good working Knowledge of NetApp, EMC- VMAX,VNX,Clarrion Hitachi -USPV,VSP storage infrastructure and tools.
* Good working Knowledge of NetApp vfilers virtualization and SAN virtualization.
* Good working Knowledge of TSM,Veritas Netbackup and Avamar backup infrastructure and backup tools.
* Experience of managing fiber channel SAN switches like Mcdata, Brocade and Cisco storage switches.
* Proficiency in at least one of the following operating systems: Solaris, Windows or Linux.
* Experience with tiered storage and the ability to quantify the storage requirements for a particular project or application.
* An appreciation for business continuity and storage based replication technologies.
* Flexible and willing to learn new technologies and applications.
* Basic UNIX command, Shell and Perl scripting required.
* Knowledge with Oracle database will be a plus.![]()
