SAP Technology Planning Manager - Capacity, Technology, SAP, Basis
My client, a leading Organisation is currently looking for a Technology Planning Manager with extensive SAP experience. The position, part of the SAP Operations programme to ensure that requirements for major upgrades and capacity increases are systematically planned and funded as well as maintaining a consistent overall schedule for upgrades and programme delivery.
The role of Technology Planning Manager is to work with SAP Operations and the Programmes of Work to determine what major upgrades are required to avoid end-of-service-life issues, then to work with IT&S Leadership and Segment CIOs to establish timing, delivery vehicle and funding for maintenance upgrades and capacity increases. The role also identifies technical conflicts and dependencies in the Enterprise Systems schedule and works with SAP Operations and the Programmes of Work to resolve them.
Key Responsibilities:
· Responsible as one of two Technology Planning Managers for planning maintenance and capacity over a 3 year timeframe across all systems managed by Enterprise Systems with approximate annual cost of $55m.
· The role is accountable for ensuring that all applications managed by Enterprise Systems are maintained on supported levels of hardware, operating system, database and application or that any exceptions are managed through a rigorous exception process
· This accountability is to be achieved by, jointly with the second planning manager, developing a Master Schedule and Maintenance Investment plan spanning the whole Enterprise Systems estate spanning a 3-year planning horizon. This will require taking input from SAP Operations, the Programmes of Work, Strategy & Architecture and Segment IT management and identifying and working to resolve conflicts and dependencies
· Identify major upgrade requirements for all applications managed by Enterprise Systems and agree delivery vehicle, timing, costs and other supporting details
· Work with stakeholders including Segment IT&S leadership teams, Programme Directors and SAP Operations leadership to build an integrated schedule of all activities and business constraints impacting systems across the Enterprise Systems landscape to form the Integrated Master Schedule. In particular, ensure that the ES Integrated Master Schedule and Segment and Programme roadmaps are aligned
· Identify technical conflicts and constraints in the Integrated Master Schedule and work with Programme Directors and other stakeholders to resolve them
· Manage exceptions to maintenance requirements and ensure that where maintenance is deferred all risks are identified, logged, mitigated and signed off by relevant CIO or ES VP as appropriate
· Monitor variances to plan, identifying and resolving root causes of issues identified
· Assess financial implications of changes to Maintenance Investment Plan and Capacity Plan and manage impact through to resolution.
· Work with other planning manager to ensure alignment of Technology Planning artefacts
Essential Skills:
· Must have a proven track record managing or planning across a large scale landscape covering hundreds of systems supporting global business throughput in the order of hundreds of millions of dollars or greater
· Responsible for long term maintenance planning (3 years or more)
· Experience managing budget of at least $10 million in a globally distributed and organisationally complex environment
· Must have a proven track record of engaging with C level IT and Business leaders in gathering, planning and delivering successful programmes of global SAP upgrades
· Experience deploying technical infrastructure for at least two full life-cycle SAP deployments spanning multiple countries and supporting business throughput in the order of $100 million
· Proven experience in using networking, relationship management and negotiating skills to secure from senior leadership funding and delivery of projects in excess of $10 million spanning multiple countries
