Responsibilities
Team leading
* Define and adapt the delivery approach as required
* Plan the work based on agreement with product owner, monitor and report on progress
* Plan testing of new features before going live
* Line management (depending on experience)
* Protect plans from non agreed changes
* Build and foster healthy group dynamics
* Recruitment for new positions within the development team.
Development
* Take on tasks in the development of new functions
* Help with defect fixing
* Get stuck in anywhere needed such as testing/QA and code review.
Skills
Essential:
* Experience in leading a small team (probably 2+ years)
* Experience in working in an Agile environment (knowledge about a number of methodologies, like Scrum, Kanban, XP would be a plus)
* Ability to work with experienced and knowledgeable team members
* Ability to keep discussions focused and make tough decisions when a consensus can’t be reached
* Organised with a project management approach to planning
* Pragmatic approach to process and tools
* An interest in the commercial side of a business
* Ruby or a very similar language like Python, Groovy, Scala, Clojue, Smalltalk, Lisp
* Another programming language
* Must have been involved in engineering a complex web application
* Experience in integration of many components into a web application
* You must have permission to work in UK
Desirable:
* Experience in recruitment and interviewing (very desirable!)
* Experience in line management
* Automated testing experience
* Refactoring and OO skills an advantage
