Data Manager (SQL/Oracle) - Permanent - York (North Yorkshire)
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Initially the primarily responsibilities of this role including owning , tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs, reviewing service related reports on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved, responding to database related alerts and escalations.
Services included in this role are contracting and extranet databases, Wed/Content databases and Business and Management information databases. It is also essential to understand the types/flows and nature of data held within third party managed (and/or hosted) systems to assure a clear and consistent approach to mastery of data.
Key Skills Required:
- DBA Certification
- Experience of developing database driven web applications using C# ASP.NET with MVC
- Solid commercial experience of developing and supporting a large e-commerce solution, including B2C and B2B
- A detailed depth of database knowledge and experience, including SQL Server and Oracle databases
- Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems
- Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimisation (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
- Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MS SQL Server
- Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts
- including DTS, ETL and ETS
- Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics
- Knowledge of Object Oriented principles, and effective use of design patterns
- Experience of working within a multi-team Agile environment, including knowledge of SCRUM and test driven development
- Involvement in data migrations and data architecture planning
