IS Technical Analyst

An exciting opportunity has arisen with a large enterprise who turn over excess of £300m. Founded in the North East, but now operating in England, Scotland and Wales, they are continuing to expand due to continued high performance continuing their success.

There is now an urgent requirement for a Technical Analyst to join their dedicated IT Department. Successful applicants will have previous work experience being a Technical analyst or Architect in a predominantly VMware, Microsoft or Cisco environment. You will be required to perform generic technical management activities throughout the service lifecycle, including design, transition, operation and improvement. You will also help ensure that Information Service technical components are well-designed, highly resilient and cost effective; to support the organisations business processes and achieve the required business outcomes.

* Significant experience of delivering and supporting IS services using ITIL best practice.
* An excellent understanding of ITIL and its links with other best practice methodologies and frameworks (PRINCE2, MSP).
* Must hold an ITIL V3 foundation certificate.
Negotiation Skills
* Proven ability to employ the key elements of negotiation including, relationship building, good communication, alternatives, legitimacy and commitment.
Role Specific
* Previous experience as a technical analyst / architect in a predominantly VMware / Microsoft / Cisco environment
.* VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
* Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Server Infrastructure (MCSE)
* Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Desktop Infrastructure (MCSE)
* Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
* Experience of using TOGAF or similar architecture frameworks
KEY RESULT AREAS
* Work with customers, users , sponsors, IS operations, IS application and all other stakeholders to detere their evolving needs.
* Determine and maintain knowledge about how technical components are related and ensure that dependencies are understood and managed accordingly.
* Research and develop solutions that can help expand the IS service portfolio or which can be used to simplify or automate IS operations, reduce costs or increase levels of service.
* Support the change management process where reliance on technical knowledge and expertise may be needed to evaluate and implement changes and assist with the deployment of releases.
* Participate in projects, not only during service design and service transition, but also for CSI or operational projects, such as operating system upgrades, server consolidation projects or physical moves.
* Produce technical architectures and performance standards for IS services.
* Design and perform tests for the functionality, performance and manageability of IS services to support service transition activities.
* Work with the IS application team to determine the highest level of technical requirements required to meet requirements within budget and technology constraints.
* Provide input into the design of configuration data required to manage and track technical components effectively.
* Engineer availability, capacity, security and continuity management for technical components in order to meet the levels of service required by the business, including modelling and workload forecasting.
* Configure technical components to be effectively managed given the organisations technology architecture, available skills and tools.
* Define the operational activities to be performed by the IS operations team and ensure those activities are performed appropriately.
* Ensure that all technical documentation is up to date and properly utilized.
* Participate in the resolution of incidents and problems, and validate / maintain the KEDB.
