We seek a Software Projects / Delivery Director to bring new insights into the development and delivery of software products for a successful, well established organisation based in Derbyshire.
As Software Projects Director you will be tasked with the following;
- defining and implementing a strong project methodology ensuring structured and controlled, but also swift, delivery of projects in an fluid environment,
- improving approaches to software development in a dynamic environment where development is required at speed using both agile and waterfall methodologies,
- making improvements in the estimating process for software projects and, in particular, implementing strategies to manage uncertainty in scope,
- implementing measures to ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget without slippage,
- supporting the implementation of improved Business Analysis techniques ensuring projects meet business needs, are prioritised effectively, delivered within scope and have clear benefits,
- ensuring strong communication lines with stakeholders, peers and the wider team including the communication of project hurdles, inter-dependencies and risks,
- refining design methods.
Background -
- Experience with a company that leverages data analytics and business intelligence would be highly beneficial.
- Strong software development and delivery understanding, evidence of delivering complex software projects.
- Experience with customer engagement and strong stakeholder management, including at board level.
- Evidence of implementing new process and techniques that are embraced, even if resisted at first.
- Evidence of delivering projects to tight time-frames against the odds.
- Strong financial awareness; evidence of handling project budgets and delivering to these budgets.
- Experience of partnering with 3rd parties for software delivery (as well as in-house software delivery experience).
Personality -
- An extremely strong influencer, leader and communicator at all levels, including board level, and able to deal with ambiguity in a fast changing environment.
- A strong decision maker and able to reach goals and effect improvements in an environment with entrenched ways of working.
