My client is looking for an experienced, professional and enthusiastic senior developer capable of inspiring and working at a senior level in an agile product development team.
The role requires an excellent knowledge of mark-up languages, template and scripting technologies, accessibility issues, web standards, and proven experience of working in a mixed discipline team delivering large scale web applications.
Candidates should have significant experience working with PHP and an understanding of the design patterns used in the Zend Framework.
Responsibilities
1. To write world class PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
2. Daily liaison with the product owners, technical lead and design team to ensure the development of new features run smoothly.
3. Ensuring your work meets the technical standards
4. To keep up to date with new industry developments
and ensure they are introduced to the projects you work on.
ESSENTIAL
Software craft
* Ability to write good quality OO code including patterns and refactoring.
* Healthy interest in upcoming web standards and technology.
Engineering Tools
* Understanding of revision control systems (svn, git)
Performance
* Knowledge of strategies to improve performance (HTTP caching, language best practices)
* Experience of building high performance websites.
Languages
* Excellent PHP programming skills, with good knowledge of the design patterns found in Zend Framework.
* Ruby (desired)
* Strong HTML/CSS/JavaScript skills
Architecture
* Solid understanding of the HTTP protocol.
* Understanding of Service Oriented Architectures and consuming RESTful web services (xml, json)
Agile practices
* Familiar with Scrum and Kanban product development processes, and working within a collaborative team.
* Ability to work with Product Owners, Business Analysts and developers to write Acceptance Criteria
* Ability to pair with developers with a range of ability and knowledge.
DESIRABLE
* Understanding of responsive design and cross-browser compatibility issues.
* Knowledge of the following protocols:
* REST
* XMPP
* SOAP
* A working knowledge of programming languages, especially:
* Java
* C
* C#
* Knowledge of user experience design and information architecture principles and techniques
