IT Senior Business Partner

The IT Relationship Management team is a team of senior IT professionals who have had broad experience of delivering IT projects and programmes in complex matric environments. Their focus will be in creating and nurturing exemplary relationships with the senior management teams, with a focus on Demand Management and Value Realisation. The Relationship team will be responsible for ensuring governance forums are created and managed to support successful project and programme delivery and that the business has clarity on the status of their portfolio and how it is aligned to the longer-term IT Applications Strategy.

Key Accountabilities of the role include:

  • Managing the development of the IT strategy and portfolio across a number of directorates in response to Business demand and prioritisation
  • Being proactive in gaining understanding of the business goals and priorities across a span of Directorates, managing and monitoring the changes in requirements and ensuring that these are reflected in the IT portfolio in a timely and controlled manner
  • Establishing and managing governance forums across the appointed directorates ensuring that appropriate governance and communication processes are in place
  • Ensuring the IT budget is spent effectively to meet business needs and also aligns with the IT strategy and delivers maximum return on investment
  • Taking responsibility for timely reporting and communications across a group of Directorates and ensuring, that at all times, Stakeholders are clear on the status of requests for major (over £100k) and minor project related work
  • Assuming line management responsibilities for IT Relationship Leads
  • Driving forward the implementation of IT relationship management across the group as a senior member of the IT Relationship management team

The successful candidate will have:

  • The ability to influence and work with all levels within the organisation, including executive and senior management
  • Experience of successfully leading and delivering IT portfolios in a large organisation
  • Experience of developing IT strategy for a number of business units/directorates
  • Experience of all stages of the IT development lifecycle
  • The ability to demonstrate a comprehensive breadth and depth of knowledge and experience of working in a complex project environment including multi-vendor and matrix environments
  • A proactive approach with the ability to prioritise workload within demanding schedules to ensure successful delivery of business priorities
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills coupled with a clear understanding of the gas and electricity industries
  • The ability to take ownership of problems and requests as well as the ability to work in a pressurised environment
  • Excellent time management skills; able to effectively plan own and others’ time
  • Have had previous experience of Oracle implementations (desirable)
