My Midlands based client is currently looking for a Group IT Network Analyst (VMWare & SAN) to join their team on a basis. The Group has operations in the UK, Germany, Belgium, France and the Middle East. Growth has been achieved through acquisition and organicallyThe Group has an outsourced MPLS Wide Area Network covering Europe. The Middle East WAN is currently managed in-house as are a small number of European WAN locations. The Local Area Networks in all locations are also managed in-house. Both the LAN and the WAN are reviewed on a regular basis.The role will report to the Group IT Operations Manager. Although primarily UK based, this role will require some international travel to all areas of current and future Group operations.The Group IT Network Analyst will be responsible for the day to day running and management of the virtualisation environment as well as all future developments; Will take ownership of the configuration and documentation ensuring that the environment is up to date and in line with industry best practices; Will plan, design and implement any changes that may be required to support the Group business.In addition to the above, the role will be expected to support the provision and development of the server infrastructure. This will require involvement with third party suppliers on all technical aspects of infrastructure design, input in to any future developments and validation of services being delivered. This role has no direct management or commercial authorities although may be required to direct third parties and manage other Lavendon Group staff at remote locations.Personal DispositionEssential:· To be self-motivated with sufficient drive and enthusiasm to 'get the job done' on time and to an excellent standard;· Maintain a professional attitude under all circumstances;· A willingness to acquire new and relevant skills and to keep abreast of developments within the Industry;· Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Qualifications Essential:· Current VMWare certification (VCP 4 qualified);ExperienceEssential:· Current in-depth knowledge of VMWare 4 and vSphere 5 and hands-on experience;· At least three years developing and implementing virtualisation solutions across multiple locations;· Experience of SAN technologies, in particular , HP P4000/LeftHand SANs;· Experience of iSCSI technologies;· Excellent troubhooting skills.Desirable:· Knowledge of VMWare Site Recovery Manager(SRM);· Knowledge of Novell e-directory and Microsoft Active Directory services;· Knowledge of Dell server and related storage technologies;· Knowledge of SUSE Linux 10 and 11;· Knowledge of Novell Open Enterprise Server;· Networking exposure - LAN, TCP/IP and switches.Skills and AbilitiesEssential:· Proven record of designing and implementing virtualisation technologies;· Ability to work alone in remote locations;· Strong planning, organisational and time management skills;· Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines. CircumstancesEssential:· Be capable of flexible working when workload demands;· Willing to work between multiple locations within Lavendon's theatre of operations as required. In exceptional circumstances this may be at very short notice.
