Our client, a market leader clinical process planning for the NHS in the UK is seeking a Development Manager to join their team based in the heart of London to lead and manage the in-house development team and take responsibility for the development of high quality products on a day-to-day basis to agreed timeframes.

The Role
The role of the Development Manager is to lead the design, development and implementation of the businesses software products. The role takes responsibility for the development of high quality products on a day-to-day basis to agreed timeframes. The role is hands-on with an expectation that some time will be spent on hands-on development as well as leading the continuous review of development practices, standards and guidelines.

The role will suit a detail oriented software development professional who is passionate about producing great software as well as comfortable with broader thinking, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliver successfully in a collaborative environment. This role will require exceptional communication skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders

Experience
*4+ years recent experience in designing, developing and maintaining large-scale Java-based web applications, and ideally .NET in a web or desktop environment. Including the ability to still be hands-on.
*2+ years recent experience within different software methodologies - including working with a Lean methodology or Scrum, XP or a similar Agile methodology. It is essential the candidate has a extremely thorough understanding of Test Driven Development and/or Behaviour Driven Development.
*Good technical team leading/management experience is essential
*Expert level knowledge of Java, Spring, Hibernate, SQL Server/MySQL, XML, HTML, AJAX
*Significant commercial experience using Tomcat/JBOSS
*A good knowledge of Javascript, XHTML, CSS and DOM scripting and RESTful/SOAP web services
*Experience of an enterprise Content Management System (CMS)
*Any commercial experience of Software as a Service (SaaS) would be beneficial
*Experience of a Continuous Integration or Continuous Delivery environment
*Experience with Healthcare IT is a plus, as is experience in a publishing environment.
*Any experience of mobile development in iOS, Android or HTML5 will be a significant bonus
