Systems Engineer / Systems Analyst / Support Analyst / Production Support / Support Specialist
The team this position sits within , manages both pre production and production environments and are responsible for supporting systems following the ITIL methodology. The team liaise closely with development teams across the globe and work closely with the global support team based in India. The team work with many ITIL management process , including all aspects of data protection (SAN and tape based) and full systems management for alert generation. The role involves close liaison with implementation, development, networks, security, management systems, storage and database teams.
Essential day to day responsibilities:
a) service application support issues.
b) Server OS issues (Solaris-30% & Windows-70%).
c) Incident route cause analysis.
d) Server capacity issues (i.e. monitoring storage on SAN).
e) System data protection issues (i.e. SAN and tape backups).
f) System IP connectivity and routing issues.
g) Server Veritas VM issues.
h) service implementation work for existing services.
Additional Information
(e.g. shift resource, % work that is development vs. maintenance, etc.):
Engineer will be required to work as part of a 1 week in 5 support roster.
Skills required:
1. Unix (i.e.Solaris) Administration.
2. Volume management on both UNIX and Windows.
3. Windows Administration (inc 2008).
4. ITIL based release management processes.
5. Scripting (VBscript, Perl, Python).
6. Windows and Solaris patching.
7. Knowledge of different 'Wintel' and Solaris hardware configurations.
Desired skills:
1. Veritas clustering.
2. IP networking and networking related technologies such as firewalls and switches.
3. Management systems such as Tivoli Netcool.
4. Web server technologies (IIS) and application servers.
5. Understanding of RDMS such as sql server and Oracle
