Information Services Manager - London
My client, a leading Oil and Gas Exploration & Production company based in London are looking for an Information Services Manager to join their team.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the provision of computer equipment and IT service (including network and desktop support) within the Business Unit.
* Accountable for local network performance; data access; electronic security and technology implementation.
* Co-ordinate the provision of IT services at remote project locations (e.g. shipyards, construction sites)
* Ensure IS systems have the required infrastructure and resources available to meet the needs of the BU.
* Implement and manage effective IM practices, including data security and disaster recovery
* Work with Group IS & Business services to establish an IS roadmap for the BU
* Manage outsourced IT and IM services
* Monitor, enforce and report on compliance with relevant corporate IS policies.
* Focal point for IS support for business applications
* Participate in the selection, design, implementation and maintenance of business
applications/systems (eg, Maximo, Unifier)
* Manage (take ownership of) the local IS management system
Key Deliverables
* Establish a document control strategy and implement within the Business Unit
* Establish a BU filing structure, data storage and archiving strategy and implement
* Establish BU Sharepoint site
* Define and establish IT interfaces with appropriate Contractor systems
* Contribute to the development of a communications strategy
* Devise business efficiencies through more prudent and objective use of contractor services. e.g. offsite data management, software vendors and specialist consultants. Negotiate prices for
contractor services.
* Assist with the creation and implementation of the local management systems
* Ensure all these activities are in alignment with Corporate strategy
* Regular reporting to BU & function.
Candidate Profile
* At least 10 years + experience in IS (IT and IM) related operations, including some back-office experience, some client/end-user facing
* At least 2 years in a supervisory role
* Ideally at least 4 years’ experience within the upstream oil and gas industry OR working major capital expenditure projects
* Knowledge of MS based networks, satellite IP comms, VPN links and thin client links
* Understanding generic business software
* Knowledge of MS based networks, satellite IP comms, VPN links and generic business software
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to articulate in a clear and concise manner
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Ability to build effective relationships with other disciplines
* Presents self in a professional manner appropriate to the role and standards Qualifications
* Graduate qualifications in Computer Science, electronic engineering or an associated degree
