Application Support Analyst (Asset management)

My client is an industry leading asset management firm. They require an experienced app support analyst with excellent customer facing communication skills to join them on a permanent basis. They operate a number of applications, running on a variety of platforms including Unix, Sun, Citrix, SQL Server, and Windows which serve the global investment management business. The Investment and Trading Support team provides a customer facing service support function for all Front Office applications to business users world-wide. The key objective is to ensure continuity of service delivery alongside a process of continuous improvement. Testing, analysis, problem management and change management are key competencies for the support team.

Support cover is provided throughout the BAM London business day (8.00 - 18.00) and through rotational overnight on-call shifts to support batch processing.

Below are the key skill and areas of expertise and experience we will be looking for.

* Knowledge of Asset Management business Operations processes covering:
- Fund Accounting (Institutional and Retail)
- Performance Measurement (Equity and Fixed income performance attribution)
- Trade reconciliations
- Swift Messaging

* Keen interest and understanding of the technology which supports the functions of Investment Management which coupled with the enthusiasm and commitment to enable them to provide first class support to the business on their terms.

* Personable individual with good communications skills enabling the candidate to support and work closely with key Business users at all levels within the organisation.


KEY TASKS
* Problem Management - Dealing with user queries effectively. Liaison with other IT teams and external software providers and users to resolve problems. Problem Analysis to identify root cause, proposal and implementation of short term/long term remedial actions.
* Service Delivery - Performance/quality of service monitoring. Co-ordination of production and test environments. Maintain close contact with the business and be aware of business issues which may have an impact on the services required. Ensure that a quality and efficient service is provided to agreed standards
* Testing - Co-ordinating and managing the testing of bug-fixes and assisting business users with user acceptance testing.
* Change Management - Scheduling new releases with other IT teams and users and managing the production promotion and on going support process.
* The Role will require participation, on a rota basis, in providing overnight on-call support for critical processes.

* Revport - Fee, Rebates and MI System.
* Various in house Access and Excel Applications


SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
* A-level education.
* Knowledge of the Asset Management Industry, and in particular Fund accounting services, gained in customer facing, application support roles.
* Customer focused with a commitment to providing a quality support service
* Good communication skills, both written and oral.
* An analytical approach to problem solving
* A positive, proactive attitude and a Team playe.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Unix - esp HPUX,
SQL
Excel
Interpreting Shell scripts.
An interest in Databases MSSQL and Sybase,
TWS Tivoli Workload scheduler.
Familiar with Citrix.
Comfortable working in a Windows environment.
Interpreting vb DTS (Data Transformation Services part of MSSQL server) scripts and other Windows technologies.
