ETRM systems (Endur, Aligne, Trtayport) / VBA / Powershell scripting / SQL / Oracle / Windows & UNIX / ETRM systems
The GTEL portfolio consists or Gas, Power, Emissions and LNG trading (and associated activities) covered by over 50 applications, and around $15M annual spend.
This position will provide technical support for Gas Trading Europe & LNG (GTEL) and supporting functions for around 200 people. The scope of support includes internal and vendor applications, hardware, software, connectivity, external and internal data feeds, messaging and mobile devices, remote access and DR/BCP support.
This is a business facing role requiring very strong customer service and communication skills combined with in-depth knowledge and experience across a broad range of technologies. This role is part of a team that will interact and work with the business trading, operations and supporting functions on a daily basis, providing technical support for multiple applications into a trading business requiring reliable, highly available systems. Participation in an on-call rota to assist covering the GTEL 24x7 business will be required.
Key accountabilities
* Perform pro-active system management and detailed analysis, specifically relating to trading, operations, pricing, accounting, reporting and risk applications.
* Engage with other BP support organisations, 3rd parties and vendors in order to resolve incidents, whilst maintaining ownership of the incident.
* Manage user requirements and expectations in line with agreed policies and processes.
* Fore fill the resolution manager role in major incident events for supported applications.
* Working with the business to identify any possible improvements or required changes and determine initial feasibility.
* Perform analysis and report on root causes to recurring problems as allocated by the GTEL Service Delivery Manager.
* Participate in Early Life Support for major project deliveries as allocated by the GTEL Service Delivery Manager.
* Monitoring of interfaces and applications to ensure availability
* Use the appropriate support tools, (e.g. Remedy 7.5) forms and templates to assure the ITIL support standards are maintained.
* Own and progress agreed ';Evergreen procedures’ for assuring the production GTEL services as allocated by the GTEL Service Delivery Manager.
Essential experience and job requirements
* Extensive Information, technology and services experience with a passion for technology and professional desk side manner.
* Strong demonstrable experience in desktop related hardware technologies and operating systems (e.g. Windows XP/7).
* Strong demonstrable experience in desktop related software applications (e.g., Office 2010 & VBA).
* Strong demonstrable experience with scripting technologies (e.g. Powershell).
* Strong track record supporting and troubleshooting issues with technologies: including but not limited to: Pricing feeds, messaging, networking, Remote Access Connectivity.
* Demonstrable experience with Oracle & MS SQL with good database fundamentals, ability to write SQL for investigative troubleshooting.
* Demonstrable experience with system security and related technologies.
* Demonstrable experience working in a multi-platform operating system environment - Windows, Unix.
* Demonstrable experience with ETRM systems and market data/trade support skills - product knowledge of Openlink Endur, Sungard Aligne and Trayport.
* Experience working in a commodity or energy trading environment.
* Excellent multi-tasking, problem solving & analytical skills.
* Motivated, proactive & independent; also works effectively within teams.
* Strong written & verbal communication skills.
* ITIL Foundation Qualified.
Desirable criteria & qualifications
* Working knowledge of application development.
* Experience with agile or scrum development methods.
