My client is looking for a SQL DBA to work for them on a permanent basis. A large financial organisation based in Nottingham, they are looking to hire ASAP but will consider long notice periods for the right candidate. Reporting into the Database Architect your day to day responsibilities will involve interaction with colleagues across IT and the wider business. You will work in a team of 2-3 individuals in the Database Administration Team.Please find the spec for the role below. Job SpecResponsible for ensuring availability and performance of the databases that support our systems and servicesWork to ensure that the associated hardware resources allocated to the databases and to ensure high resilience and performance tuningTroubleshooting and problem solving of SQL incidentsProactive monitoring of the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtimeEnsure that the hardware resources allocated to database servers will provide high resilience and performance with changing business needsResponsible for providing trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource managementResponsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include rollout and upgradesResponsible for implementation and release of database changes according to agreed timescales Capacity and scalability planning to ensure long-term performance and stability of database applicationsProactively manage projects and report on progress, to time, cost and qualityTraining and mentoring of colleagues to improve database development skillsCommunicates externally with our hosting partner in resolving application infrastructure issues and/or provisioning new services.Communicates internally with IT colleagues , Operational Specialists, business line heads and other key stakeholders in ation to providing a robust database and reporting infrastructure.Provides training and mentoring in SQL Server best practices to junior team members and the wider IT community.If you might be interested in the role, please send in a CV and I will give you a call to discuss it further.Image may be NSFW.
