A well-established and successful specialist software provider based in the West Midlands is seeking a new CTO. Reporting directly into the Managing Director, the CTO will be responsible for providing technical leadership and vision to the organisation. The CTO will develop the technology strategy and see that it is implemented across the company whilst taking a key role in developing the company's broader strategy and ensuring it has the capability to deliver upon it.
Upon joining, the CTO will take full responsibility for developing and delivering the technology roadmap and developing technology strategy across all areas from development practice to hosting solutions. You will be responsible for: building, managing, leading and inspiring the development and technical operations teams including mentoring teams and individuals; promoting coding conventions, documentation standards, QA standards and development process, such as Agile methodologies; and working with project managers, business analysts and others in the company to ensure work is delivered into development in an appropriate form and that high quality product is delivered from the technology teams in a timely manner. As an experienced technologist and commercial leader, you will be required to keep abreast of developments in technology to ensure that the organisation is always using the right solutions and providing the best services to clients, whilst identifying opportunities for growth and mitigating areas of risk.
To be considered for this opportunity, candidates will have significant experience of leading technology teams within a technology start-up or SME Software House. You will be able to demonstrate broad understanding and knowledge of technology, spanning development, development practice, operations, security and management. You will bring an innovative and forward thinking approach to technology and its appropriate application in enabling a business to achieve its objectives and will be confident in setting technology strategy. Ultimately you will be a proven leader with the ability to inspire, lead, and develop teams; a genuine enthusiasm for this element of the role is essential. You will be credible, engaging, honest and have the ability to make and execute decisions quickly. The ability to influence and persuade at all levels as well as act as an agent of change will be essential.
