PHP / JavaScript Developer
We are currently seeking individuals with excellent development skills to help us create and maintain a number of key websites seen by millions of world wide users each month. This core team uses agile development processes to frequently release new sites and enhancements.
You'll be helping us develop a framework for production of sites quickly and simply, help us begin to implement responsive layout s and components across our portfolio and consistently improve our offerings by helping to validate product hypotheses through prototyping and incremental production releases. Working closely with analytics you’ll be able to design ways to quickly tell how effective a new feature is with our audience.
We use a stack consisting of Linux, httpd, RESTful web services, Zend Framework, Memcached, jQuery, HTML5 and LESS. You'll be working with PHP, but with a focus on the templating and JavaScript application logic and presentation.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Develop consumer digital web applications and provide ongoing support existing sites and applications
* Ensure that sites and applications conform to high standards of engineering and architecture
* Engineer products that meet business needs whilst working within agreed timelines
* Proactively keep abreast of industry developments, skills, technologies and best practices
* Work independently and/or within a team and participate in team activities as the work requires
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Required
* Substantial experience in building and supporting high performance websites and web applications
* Expert level object-oriented PHP 5 programming
* Strong object oriented programming skills
* Excellent working knowledge of front end technologies.
* Experience writing testable code (TDD, BDD or similar)
* Thorough understanding of how the web works
* Good knowledge of source control
* Knowledge of Restful web services
* Working knowledge of Apache HTTPD
* Experience of working within an agile software development environment
* Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
* Ability to understand business requirements and provide creative UI and technical solutions that work within the technical, project and commercial boundaries
* Good attention to detail
