SQL Server DBA sought by my Central London based Hedge Fund client. This existing opening is to join a small team in a leading, cutting-edge Technology environment.
The role will cover the following main areas:
Day-to-day support of a multi-site Microsoft SQL Server environment
Maintenance of a business-critical multi-site replication environment
Maintenance of a business-critical multi-site SQL-mirrored environment
Maintenance of a log shipped DR server environment - with the ability to fail over should this be necessary
Responsibility for database and transaction log backups
Ensuring database security
Working closely with developers - advising on design and indexing issues, performance tuning, discussing the impact of schema modifications and code changes, and ultimately carrying out these changes.
Performing out-of-hours work such as server migrations and upgrades as necessary
Familiarity with server and storage hardware - including specification of new hardware and maintenance of existing hardware and SAN technologies
Documentation of processes and procedures
Support of helpdesk staff in their execution of first-line SQL troubleshooting/tasks
T-SQL exposure is essential
Strong academics are essential for this requirement.
