HR Director
West Midlands with travel to London & the South West (occasional overseas travel)

Reporting to the BU Managing Director, the HR Director will play a key role as part of the management team; advising on strategic and complex operational HR matters and responding effectively to commercial priorities. The HR Director will understand business drivers and HR implications in order to maximise the potential of their people, create a culture conducive to the achievement of business aims and thus deliver bottom line value.
Key areas of accountability:
* Integrate company-wide HR strategy and divisional goals into a local People Plan & manage the implementation of the plan through a team of HR Business Partners
* Build & develop effective working relationships with the BU MD & Senior Management Team to become a key decision maker on strategic business issues
* Build & develop an effective working relationship with the Divisional HR Director to influence & input into the divisional HR strategy
* Provide HR expertise to competitive dialogue and bidding process.
* Identify mid to long term training needs, feeding into the corporate TNA & Training Plan development
* Build succession plans to support the corporate succession strategy & help identify & develop high potential people within the BU
* Develop line managers’ HR capability & people management competence & consistency of approach in line with the People Management Framework
* Ensure complex/high risk ER cases are managed pragmatically and within an acceptable level of business risk
* Lead and/or project manage OD and change activity within the BU
* Coach & mentor the BU MD to ensure people issues are at the forefront of the business planning process
* Work with other HR Directors & HR functions to share best practice & raise inter-business unit policy/practice issues
* Ensure the operational fulfilment of core HR services meets the BU needs & foster the relationship between the business and HR Operations.
* Directly manage a team of remote HR Business Partners, providing leadership, coaching and development
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will be of graduate calibre and CIPD qualified or equivalent. You will have a track record of operating as part of a senior management team, with strong business partnering experience and used to supporting a client group of c.2000 employees. Previous experience gained within a large multi-disciplined matrix organisation in Facilities Management/Corporate, ideally with experience in the Defence sector. A self-starter, the successful candidate will need to be results focused, resilient and have a high level of personal impact. In this role, your time will be split between the West Midlands, London and the South West with occasional overseas travel.
Specific skills needed include a proven track record in all aspects of HR including resourcing, talent management/succession planning, change management and employee relations. Solid and up to date knowledge of employment legislation and experience of organisation development and change, including change project planning and management and TUPE/bid management processes.
