PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

* Accountable for System and Integration testing of in-house developed and third party software applications
* Providing senior level competency as a System Tester, e.g. running a project as a Lead Test or being able to test quite independently.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

-Must have worked in asset management having knowledge of the Investment Process and supporting Departments.
-Basic use of SQL for RDBMS queries
-Knowledge of Equities and Fixed Income

DESIRABLE SKILLS

-Knowledge in one or more of the following systems: thinkFolio, Revport, Salesforce, Sentinel, WebMethods or Statpro (or equivalent systems)
-Knowledge of Derivatives
-Basic use of UNIX

PRINCIPAL RESPONSBILITIES

Test Planning
 Define the scope of testing
 Define the test approach
 Define responsibilities
 Produce a test schedule
 Raise issues/risks
 To monitor quality, effort and time against baseline, and highlight to the System Test Manager and Stakeholders of relative projects any deviation.

Create reusable test packs specific to the systems
 Analyse user requirements and system design
 Produce test conditions
 Create test scripts
 Specify test data requirements
 Produce test procedures and checklists
 Document reusable SQL commands

Execute system and integration testing of new and modified software
 Understand system configuration
 Set up test data
 Execute test scripts
 Record and report test progress
 Follow test procedures

Identify and report all software bugs and issues during testing
 Reproduce and investigate all bugs/issues
 Document details of all bugs/issues
 Generate Defect reports
 Follow all issues through to resolution/handover

Action software change control requests
 Follow the Promotion Procedures
 Prepare PROMS component list (CL)
 Tag components using Configuration Management tools
 Prepare CL and instructions for UAT handovers
 Maintain audit trail of all requests actioned

Maintain and control the test environments during testing
 Installation & configuration
 Follow re-sync procedures
 Set up logins
 Schedule/Promote bug-fixes
 Run data loads
 Control access

Additional tasks
 Run projects as a Lead Tester, organising the system test activities for the Testers (including yourself), monitoring and successfully executing the project testing phase.
 Support teams in the investigation and resolution of issues that arise both during Production and UAT testing cycles.
 Fulfil additional tasks required to meet BAM business requirements as directed by BAM management.
 Reporting regularly to System Test Manager (as Manager requires) and reporting to Stakeholders on a project by project basis.
 Escalation to management to ensure issues are dealt with within acceptable parameters
 Risk - identification of Risks and Issues to a Project and/or to the Business
 Conversely, judgement of the level of testing vs. risk needs requires fair assessment.
