Job Title: Technical Infrastructure Analyst

A large global enterprise now requires an experienced Technical Infrastructure Analyst to join the Infrastructure Run - Telecoms & Windows Services Department. You will be responsible for the running and maintenance of all infrastructure services to ensure maximum availability and delivering services to agreed business and environmental requirements. Working closely with the CTO you will support him in delivering, communicating and maintaining the Infrastructure Strategy and Roadmap. You will ensure that operational services are maintained, available and scaled as per business requirements. You will also support incident and problem resolution activity within required service and Operating level Agreements.
My client design, develop and deliver reliable, secure, cost effective systems and services which are run and supported to ensure business units and the division achieve sustained excellent customer service and profitability. You will support for new or changed services, operation of the change process, and monitor performance of systems and services in relation to their contribution to business performance, their security and their sustainability.
Key Activities:
* Investigates potential and actual service problems and recommends solutions. Follows formal procedures to plan and test proposed solutions.
* Prepares and maintains operational documentation for relevant system software products. Advises systems development and service delivery staff on the correct and effective use of system software.
* Gathers performance statistics from the IT platforms to enable recommendations for the tuning of system software. Applies system software parameters to maximise throughput and efficiency.
* Carries out routine including start-up, simple re-configuration, shutdown and normal re-start procedures.
* Carries out routine monitoring, logging and reporting tasks, taking defined action on simple problems. Escalates unforeseen or high risk activities to management.
* Carries out and observes all associated administrative and clerical procedures.
* Follows strictly, but using judgement where necessary, all relevant instructions and procedures relating to malfunction, safety and security.
* Carries out investigations, including root cause, and problem analysis using strong troubleshooting techniques.

Functional Skills:
* Knowledge of the discipline which gives precise control over IT assets by allowing IT management to maintain information about the "configuration items", including hardware devices, computer programs, documentation, collaboration services and computer centre facilities, required to deliver an IT service.
* Proficient in frameworks and principles on which networks, systems, equipment and resources are based. Examples: The Microsoft product suite including, MS Windows server OS, PC/laptop OS, Active Directory, Citrix, Backup software, Anti Virus solutions.
* Proficient in the rules for the inter-operation of networking components. Examples: TCP/IP, DNS LAN/WAN routing.
* Knowledge of the IT infrastructure outside of direct area of specialism (hardware, databases, operating systems, local area networks etc) and the IT applications and service processes used within own organisation.
* Knowledge of techniques for ensuring that full account is taken of customers’ real and stated needs in the delivery of IT services.
* Proficient in use of everyday desktop software. Examples: word processing, spread sheets, graphics.
* Familiar with methods and techniques for reporting progress and financial conformance against an agreed plan.
* Proficient in methods and techniques for making effective use of own time.
* Acquiring a proper understanding of a problem or situation by breaking it down systematically into its component parts and identifying the relationships between these parts, selecting the appropriate method/tool to resolve the problem and reflecting on the result, such that learning is identified and absorbed.
* Maintaining focus on agreed objectives and deliverables whatever the circumstances.
* Familiar with knowledge and understanding of system hardware configurations. Examples: number of nodes, system capacity, synchronization, link speeds, external interfaces, features and facilities.
