HR Director
Manchester (with UK & international travel)
£100,000 - £120,000 plus car & benefits
With a strong global brand in its niche market and a reputation for engineering excellence, my client has a long history of innovation and world class design. Today the business manufactures and sells market leading products internationally and employs c2,200 people.
As part of a new management team with a new vision and direction, my client is seeking an experienced HR Director to provide both strategic and operational HR support. As part of the Executive Team and reporting to the CEO, the HR Director will play a vital role in shaping the business strategy from a people perspective and developing/implementing a HR plan that supports the business agenda.
Key objectives and areas of accountability:
* Evaluate the business and develop a HR strategy that supports short, medium and long term business goals.
* Manage change including, business restructuring, site closures, cost efficiency and continuous improvement programmes
* Develop a robust HR infrastructure with up to date policies and people processes
* Manage day to day/business as usual HR activities in a stand-alone capacity
* Help to redefine and implement a business culture that is progressive, customer service led and promotes and delivers high performance.
* Coach and develop Managers and business leaders to ensure the right behaviours and values are embedded
* Develop a Talent Management strategy that attracts, retains, motivates and develops both future and existing employees to support future organic growth.
* Lead the recruitment of new Senior Team members
* Develop and implement new reward, pension, bonus and benefits schemes
* Support future business acquisitions globally including due diligence, TUPE, harmonisation and integration
Education & Experience:
* Ideally CIPD qualified or equivalent and of graduate calibre
* Demonstrable experience in devising and delivering a HR strategy ideally within a manufacturing or engineering environment
* Experience of managing change programmes including restructuring and downsizing
* Strong employment law knowledge
* Experience of mergers & acquisitions
* Able to manage Trade Union relationships/negotiations
* International experience or knowledge of other cultures
* Previous Board level experience

* Hands-on (this is a stand-alone role)
* Driven and self-motivated
* Tenacious
* Continuous improvement mentality and able to challenge the status quo
* Excellent engaging and influencing skills
The role is based at the company’s Manchester Head Office with regular travel to other UK sites and internationally. You will need to be willing and able to travel regularly.
