My client, a high profile oil & gas company, is looking for an Event Analyst to join their team in Uxbridge.
Role Synopsis:
The Business & Systems Support Services team deliver and manage a suite of common processes and services based upon the ITIL framework. The team aims to deliver a stable and highly reliable suite of applications, based mainly around the SAP application suite.
Within B&SS, the Service Integration team is responsible for:
· Incident and Problem Management
· Security
· Event management
· Availability Management
· Taking an end-to-end view of service delivery, consolidating data from IBM to understand the user experience
The Event Analyst is an integral role within the Service Operations team responsible for analysing process and monitoring data in conjunction with technical operations teams to identify improvements and ensure compliance to the Event Management processes. This role takes accountability for the proactive management of system events and reports directly to the Event Process Manager.
Key Accountabilities:
· Assist development of the new Event Management process for B&SS and ensure that this is maintained and adopted effectively and is in compliance with all corporate standards and policies. The collation of event and performance data into real time dashboard reporting will provide B&SS leadership and Segment CIO organisations with the ability to manage their operations more proactively, by identifying incidents before they have an adverse effect upon the business. Communicate the process steps, run training and education and ensure process compliance across B&SS and awareness across IBM
· Work with incident and problem management to relate operational incidents back to potential monitoring improvements.
· Work with technical teams to analysis of monitoring configurations to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
· Analysis of event data to identify leading indicators and overall system health issues, feeding into problem management on OI programme.
· Analysis of Operational Integrity programme audit data to identify areas for monitoring improvement.
· Work collaboratively within the supplier eco-system to understand event management capabilities, determine gaps and requirements and obtain necessary inputs from a variety of sources
· Support resources in IBM to ensure delivery of capability and resolution of dependencies between B&SS and IBM
· Measure and report on the performance of the Event Management process
· Provide support to ensure Event Management process operates in a truly end-to-end manner, is fully integrated with other resolver group processes and all Service Integrator roles are clearly identified and fulfilled.
· Maintain an effective framework for proactive continuous improvement, considering Incident and Problem data and work with the internal and external Service Operations functions to ensure that alerts and monitoring provides sufficient early-warning of incidents to prevent or minimise business disruption.
· Ensure that Event Management plans are fully aligned with Service Level Agreements and Event Plans and support their effective operation for end-to-end services.
· The role also ensures that services and service providers comply with standards and policies, including HSSE, security and regulatory requirements, and contributes to service continuity planning.
Essential Criteria:
· Experience of Event Management and event correlation and analysis activities in a complex mission critical environment.
· Knowledge of the necessary event management tools and correlation engines prevalent (i.e. SAP Solution Manager, HP Topaz)
· Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and translate business requirements into technical solutions
· Must have strong in-depth SAP background and understanding. Can show significant SAP applications experience and in-depth knowledge of the challenges and opportunities present in a global multi-instance SAP environment.
· Good influencing capabilities.
* A broad technical understanding allied to strong process skills. Has more than a superficial understanding of SAP functional requirements, SAP technical requirements, infrastructure, and tools.
* Able to identify and implement quality improvement activities as it relates to Event management activities.
· Able to demonstrate track record of executing ITIL framework and processes with successful outcomes within a large scale global SAP/service management environment
* Able to create excellent working relationships across the B&SS teams and within the Service Providers.
* Educated to Degree level or equivalent
