QA tester, Automation, fx sought by my Investment banking City based client for an initial 6 month contract.
The successful candidate will be resposible for the development, enhancement and support of the bank's core platforms. The QA tester is required to specify, coordinate and ensure delivery of the QA and test.
Key Accountabilities:
- In conjunction with the development team, writes test strategy documents for the various software projects.
- Develops detailed plans and accurate estimates for completion of testing and user acceptance phases of projects.
- Ensures that test procedures are documented and followed during the software development and test lifecycle.
- Assesses, researches, analyzes and documents test cases in accordance with Project Life Cycle, utilizing testing tools.
- Performs test analysis, test execution, defect tracking and reporting
- Executes testing including leading the systems and acceptance testing by facilitating participation of appropriate staff.
- Creates automated test packs for project with short development release cycles
- Plans, delivers and approves testing deliverables for software releases
- Plans, specifies and coordinates test environments
- Creates a standard to document test phases and results retention
- Ensures adequate test documentation is maintained
- Utilises industry standard planning and testing tools
- Ensures audit requirements are met for QA and test activities
- Ensures disaster recovery invocation plans and tests are in place and up to date
- Ensures best practice methods and common standards for QA and testing are in place and followed.
- Monitors the detailed aspects of day-to-day test requirements of the project.
- Effectively communicates and builds rapport with team members, stakeholders and business partners using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close.
- Facilitates small to medium meetings and conducts information gathering sessions (e.g. JAD)
- Resolves conflicts/issues of medium complexity and escalates others as appropriate
Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
- Previous experience on large projects - would be an asset
- Previous experience in front office - would be an asset
Skills and Competencies
- Ability to perform test analysis, test execution, defect tracking and reporting
- Ability to utilise different project methodologies: iterative methodologies like RUP and traditional waterfall approach
- Knowledge of Quality Controls
- Knowledge of Cost/Benefit Analysis & alternatives identification
- Knowledge of risk assessment
- Knowledge of asset class
- Knowledge of automated testing and relevant tools (i.e., Test Director, QTP)
- Knowledge of IT Standards, Methodologies, CMM and audit requirements
